I had my appointment today with SunRun to install my FCSP. The team did a great job and ran conduit from my panel to the garage.
When we went to power up the charger, the LED indicators on the front panel do not light up. The team checked their wiring and the panel and everything is good.
The unit was able to connect to my Wi-Fi and we were able to connect it to the Ford Pass App.
We plugged the truck in and the truck started to charge.
The unit is set to 80 Amps on a 100 Amp circuit with 3 AWG wire.
Any thoughts?

while there might be some reports of issues with the Ford supplied EVSE, I'll make use of it until I have any issues, if ever, but it's also easy to find 240v NEMA 14-50 EVSE options online - having one as a backup will be smart, regardless.

Bad LED or controller? Just a guess if everything else is working.
Did they measure current?

The Sun Run team did not measure current when they were checking the FCSP.

Did they at least check the charging speed on the truck to make sure it didn't start charging but only got say 3A? Or did they just confirm with the blinky lights on the chargeport?

I wonder who will fix the charger. It won’t be easy to uninstall it to return it to Ford.
  • Part distributed by sunrun.
  • Part provided by sunrun.
  • Part installed by sunrun.
  • Part not working immediately after sunrun installed it.

Ima gonna have to assume sunrun will be responsible to make their work right. Granted, that's a huge assumption these days. :p

Mine was not installed by Sunrun. They don’t operate in my region. I purchased the charger when I bought and paid for my Lariat. Any problems and it’s Ford’s responsibility.

I have electricians quoting a small subpanel in my garage with a NEMA 14-50 receptacle below it now. When the FCSP comes I'll feed the charger from the subpanel. I figured the NEMA 14-50 is a nice thing to have in the event the FCSP shits the bed which appears to be a common occurrence. It'll be an nice backup to have.

Sounds like it's just a bad indicator led. The truck shows that it's receiving power when you plug it in? Also, have you tried derating the charger from 80 amps to a lower setting? Several people have had issues with it set to 80amps but none with it set to something lower.

Wise choice. I did the same when my Teslatap mini converter adapter wouldn't work for my Tesla wall charger.

If all you have are missing blinky lights then forget it.

Your truck and app will tell you they are charging is all you really need.

Thanks for the suggestion, I have not tried that. I just updated (via Ford Pass) to limit the charger to 64 amps. I’ll check later to see how that works.

For the record, my unit is running software version 2.112.68:

So far SunRun sent me an email from EVOPS that they are researching a solution and will be in touch soon.
