So I’ve done the modem disconnect and reconnect and it brings up cellular and WiFi and FordPass is good to go. Can refresh and update from the app, see charge status, etc. but after a few hours it’s like the car goes to sleep and the modem does too. Only way to get it working again is to repeat the unplug process.

Anyone else have this? Ideas? Thanks!

Welcome new member, has your truck received any updates in recent days that coincide with this problem?

Things to check, Fordpass was updated today, make sure you have the newest version 4.33.0

With the release of Tesla Supercharging processes, a lot of systems and services on the back end have been updated, it MIGHT be a side effect which will subside in a few days, continue monitoring this.

Thanks. No updates for me since I bought the truck in December 2023. It’s a 23 lariat new. Haven’t gotten a single update. Got the battery level monitor warranty recall fixed.
Thanks

Does your modem light up again if you fully start the truck?
Your symptoms sound like a weak 12v battery. If your 12v battery drops to 40-50% SOC the truck charges it from the HVB and shuts down many modules like the modem to conserve energy. Given your symptoms I'd check there first. You can check your 12v battery SOC online on your account at Ford.com from your account screen.

This is an example of the last update it will give. 12v SOC (Charge Level) is 43% and it will no longer get updates since the truck will charge the 12v and shut down the modem.

Start the truck and then check your FordPass app a few minutes later and see if it updates. If it updates, then your modem started up with the truck.

Just out of curiosity, how are you doing the modem disconnect/reconnect in your original post?

I’ve done the battery disconnect, fuse disconnect, and now I just unplug it directly behind the single second row seat.

It doesn’t.

Dang. Ok. Thanks for the help
One thing you can try is to manually look for updates right after you do a modem reset. It could be the modem update is sitting there, but can't download it in your window because it hangs before the update window. You might have luck manually doing the update right after you restart the modem. (fuse 32 on mine). If successful, it might save you a trip to the dealer.

Have you gotten any OTA updates? If you just got the truck, and need to take it in, I'd ask the dealer to make sure the truck is fully updated to current firmware levels while you are there. Sometimes the trucks sit on the lot and fall behind on the updates, then they won't update at all OTA until the dealer updates.

That’s a good idea. How do I force it to check for an update?

Go to the setup menu and select "Software Updates". You might have to wait for a few minutes for it to check, then press "Update Now". If one is pending, it will give you 2 minutes to exit the truck and lock it, then it will do the update hopefully before your modem hangs.
