I haven’t written up the comparison yet (just learned about some new Apple Maps behavior,) but my Google Maps/AA setup seems to have gotten some updates since I last posted. I now does pretty well with replacing charging stops, both during planning and after starting navigation. I’ve used it for a couple long trips and it’s getting pretty useful. Easier to work with than Apple Maps and pre-conditioning as well. You don't need to physically start driving. Just need to hit start. Then select the little pin icon beside the magnifying glass, select a station you want to replace and hit replace. Certainly not the most intuitive or anywhere close to the features of abrp though
Oddly there were some chargers that were in the Google database as chargers, I could search for them by name, add them as waypoints and they would be recognized as charging stops, but I could not get the replace charger function to offer them as alternatives, even though they were just a few blocks away from the charger the route planning was suggesting. One was the IONNA charger in Beaver, UT and the other was the V4 supercharger in Moapa, NV. Both of these are pretty new, so that might factor in.
On a side note, I have rarely experienced a charge session as good as the IONNA stop. Excellent charging, great details and goop pricing. Better than Tesla and much better than EA.
