2022 Ford F150 Lightning Lariat extended range
I have a 2022 Lariat with the BO package (not the unleashed). I have an iPhone 16 pro max connected to my truck using CarPlay. The issue I am having is that the truck is intermittently not accepting the audio from the phone. If I play a YouTube video the video shows but no audio. I know it’s the truck because it starts working again when I reset the software in the truck. When I tried to trouble shoot by resetting the iphone and not the truck, the audio would not work. Is anyone else having this issue? I have sent a request for help to ford but no response.

I have had the same problem on rare occasions. No idea what caused it or what caused it to be ok next time I started the truck.

Has been an issue in 2022 lightning platinum w sound package and my ladies 21 Mach E for as long as we have had them. We both have iPhones.
Bluetooth and directly plugging in for connection to CarPlay both create this issue. The only solution I have had to overcome it is to stop the truck, completely shut it off (turn it off and open the door as if you are exiting) and then turn it back on. So now I try my best to remember to wait the seeming 10 minutes when starting it up for CarPlay to connect and test audio before driving.

I have this issue and the easiest way I found was to go to the phones menu, select your phone, tap on the Carplay icon to turn it off and then when it refreshes, turn it back on. Then Ill have audio.

I had a similar issue last Friday, but with the dongle that connects the Sirius car kit to the truck stereo. Bluetooth could see and connect to the dongle but no sound. I reset everything several times, then the music suddenly started in the grocery store parking lot. My thought was that the sun broke out from the clouds and temp warmed, or the new grocery store has special powers. 😎

Good to know this works, will try that next time.
EDIT: had the "opportunity" to try this, and it works, better than turning off the truck.
Thanks!

I’ve had the same issue on my 2022 Lariat. I can’t hear my bride through the phone or hear any podcasts/music. I found it’s best to stop, put the truck in park, turn off the “ignition” open the door, and start the truck up again. Very annoying…also have BlueCruise 1.0, so maybe it’s punishment for Ford not upgrading the software.

I’ve had this issue with my ‘22 Lariat ever since I got the truck. However, switching to an official Apple cable and plugging in using the USB-A port instead of the USB-C port has nearly eliminated almost all of my issues. It was driving me crazy.

Hi Drillerr
so Your saying by connecting your iPhone to usb A in charging dock area (wired CarPlay) that fixed the issue?

Occasionally I have experienced the same lack of audio in my ‘22 Lariat using my iPhone 16. I connect the iPhone to the truck using Bluetooth. It seems to occur most frequently if I am in a hurry to go when I start the truck. If I patiently wait for about 30 seconds for everything to boot up and CarPlay to connect after pushing the start button, the problem dos not seem to occur.

I suspect starting up a tech heavy Lightning is a complex process and that Ford may not have used the fastest processors available. Annoying yes, but at least I don’t have to get out and hand crank the motor to start it up. 😊

It has not solved the problem, but I have less issues connecting to the truck. Generally speaking It seems like the truck wants to go back to what it was doing when it was turned off. So I wait until the truck is off and I have opened the door to turn off the electronics before I disconnect my phone.

I also usually plug in my phone before starting the truck. This may all be nonsense, but 8 out of 10 times the phone reconnects without issue. I do agree with Piquette though about giving the truck some time to "boot up".

After a recent trip to Texas where my rental car was a new Hyundai that connected wirelessly every time to my phone without fail, I tried the wireless approach again with the Lightning. Too many failures on connecting, so i went back to wired.

I've had that issue in my '22 Lightning and the hub's '23 Mach E with our iPhones as well. Another solution that usually fixes the problem is to hold the "volume down" and "next track" buttons on the steering wheel to reboot the Sync system and let it reconnect to the phones.

Having said that, the various OTA updates over the course of this year has fixed the problem for the most part. It still happens, but far less frequently.

This is exactly what I do, and is the fastest and easiest way to solve the issue.
