Tom, I will keep you in the loop. I have a trip to Phoenix planned at the end of the month, and should be back home around the 4th or 5th of February. The tires are in stock at the Tirerack warehouse in Denver, so I will pick 5 since I want to see if I can fit one on the spare tire as well. I am not sure how much room is in the spare tire space, but hopefully there is enough room to put a full sized tire in there.

I will have the Discount Tire team install the tires on the truck and then we will see what happens. I want a tire that has a little more bite, a better look, but is also rated for an EV. Unfortunately, the Pirelli's are the only game in town for right now.
Best of luck. My experience on Mustangs has left a bad taste in my mouth on Pirelli as a Brand, but I try to keep an open mind.

Pirelli, like Continental, is a love or hate brand. I have really good luck with Pirelli on my Porsche's, so I have no complaints. I have Pirelli winter tires Zero winters on my Taycan right now and they have really good grip in some squirrely conditions. I use the Cinturato P7's in the summer, and those feel like the car is bolted to the ground when cornering or accelerating.

I am hoping for the same luck on the Lighting.

Hello, everyone!

We are one of F150 Lightning Forum's newest official sponsors!

A little about us...

Discount Tire is America's largest independent wheel and tire retailer. We have over 1,000 locations nationwide and if you don't have a Discount Tire store nearby, the mail order division Discount Tire Direct, is available to help as well. We work very hard to make sure you get the best customer service in the industry and the lowest prices at the bottom line!

There will be three of us messaging here: Jordan, Joe and I (Matt).

We're excited to be a part of the community and we look forward to having some fun here on the site! If we can help you in any way please let us know - we're here to help!

We'll see you on the boards!
Hi there. Just curious as to what sort of assurance we get when looking at wheels on your website. Specifically, that the wheels are indeed rated for our trucks. I know the parent company owns Tire Rack and I've already seen that wheels shown as "fits your vehicle" do not in fact carry the weight rating of a Lightning. But I've also noticed you guys don't offer an identical catalog to TR so I'm thinking maybe there's a chance the wheels shown are in fact rated for the Lightning.
I am admittedly, a little anxious about putting wheel on my truck that aren't technically related for it. I'm not exactly planning to push my truck to it's limits but I do want proper rated wheels for peace of mind.. lol

The Discount Tire locations here in Tucson, AZ have been top notch. I've been to 3 of them and they all have outstanding service. It's great to see you here!
Hello from Phoenix! Thank you for the shout out to our crews down in Tucson, Brandon!

I am interested in the Nitto Recon Grappler in 285/55/r20 116T XL.
Can you get those?
Thank you for the opportunity to earn your business @skyak!

We do not have an internal part number for this new construction just yet (this is why it is not on our website) however we can order it. The only kicker is, this tire is on back order status right now with no firm ETA.

I hope you enjoy your time down here!

Great question and all the wheel models we display for the L on our website are properly load rated. At a high level, we follow industry standard for load capacity by referencing the vehicles GAWR, which the highest for your Pro is 4,800 lbs.

If there are any wheel models we can double check the fitment for, please don't hesitate to send us a direct message!

Welcome, we have a nearby Discount Tire store that gets great reviews and are the 'good guy' tire stars of Nextdoor, bringing up the question:

Is it true that I can buy road hazard insurance from Discount Tire (with inspection on vehicle) for the OEM A/S Generals that came on the Lightning?

Thanks!

I am curious about the cost of the Hankook Ion Evo. Hankook website lists you as a retailer but I can't find them anywhere on the discount site. I have the Lariat 20" wheels. I live in Phoenix so I wanted the Ion Evo since they're summer tires but I don't know if I would need to get the Ion Evo All Season since they are labeled as "SUV". Thoughts and price?

What all season tires is everyone enjoying on the Lightning, and how long are they lasting?

The OEM tires on my 20" wheels are wearing a little quick. I've had some fun with the accelerator, but actually quite a bit less than with other performance vehicles. Mostly just happy to glide along in this floating fordtress.

+1 for Discount Tire. The free checks and tire repairs keep me coming back time after time for new tires.

Interested to hear back on this. I have been looking for a replacement for the stock General A/S tires. My goal is something I can have on year round, improved performance in the snow, and less than 10% range loss. Haven't found anything yet...
I put on the Pirelli Scorpion AS Plus 3’s. They have the mountain rating on the sidewall and reviews were great online. I already have two family members who put on dedicated snow tires in winter and did not want the hassle of changing a third car.

How is the performance and range impact?

I wish I could tell you, but with temperatures in the 40’s, windy storms, commutes involving a lot of hills and drives through standing water it might be summer before I could do any kind of reasonable assessment. In 20/20 hindsight I should have kept on the OEMs and done a baseline but I didn’t in my eagerness get snow ready tires on.

I understand l. I find the stock tires serviceable, but with plenty of room for improvement in the snow. They are fine otherwise.

Nothing that can't be managed if you are careful, but not even close to my previous trucks that had KO2s.

I have been getting all my tires from Discount Tires for the past 8 years or so.
I'll be seeing them soon for my Prius,
And when the lightning needs tires .
Do you sell snow chains and which tires are they installed on the lightning? I want to get up to big Bear California and want to have a set just incase. Caltrans says no need for chains if you have four wheel drive and snow tires, I have the BSW all season tires. Are they considered snow tires?

Thank you for the welcome, @Amps!

Absolutely! We do extend the option to add our Certificate for Repair, Refund or Replacement to new OE tires, pending an inspection, and as long as the tires are an item we can order in (which in this case we can).

I recommend reaching out to your local store and any one of the team members will be happy to review your options and make sure you're taken care of!

Thank you for thinking of us for your replacement tires, Kevin!

As a Hankook dealer, we'll show up in their dealer results, regardless if it's a Hankook tire model we carry.

We do not have internal part numbers for the iON line just yet, which is why you are not seeing this as an option on website, however, we can order any tire size under this lineup. The only kicker here is that the iON is not produced in a size that will work for the L from what I'm seeing.

That's so great to hear, Craig! Thank you for your long time support of Discount Tire; we look forward to helping you with the Prius and Lightning tires. Feel free to reach out to us by PM on the forum if we can be of any assistance from this end.

Regarding chains, we do offer them and you can browser our offering through our website LINKED HERE. I would recommend consulting your owners manual for any specific guidance regarding the use of chains/cables.

When it comes to All-Season tires, these are not classified as true snow/winter tires, though they do have the ability to get you by in light snowy conditions. True snow/winter tires have a higher sipe density and rubber compounds that are designed to stay pliable in frigid temperatures. Here's a good write-up on our website that goes into additional details.

I am not sure if I would have done anything different, but I wish I had seen this last week.

I was just at DT on Saturday to replace one of my stock tires that sprouted a leak. Was told it was unrepairable and due to road hazard.

DT got me a replacement and I ended up buying road hazard insurance on all four tires.
