Invited to F-150 Lightning Drive Experience in San Antonio

I do see this as a public event for Ford, but I'm also hearing that special select Ford customers are being brought in to test drive, report on, and get to know the specifics of the vehicle, in person. I will report what I'm seeing as I can, and will hopefully have some interesting videos and discussions to bring home. I'd like to bring my Lightning home, too. Maybe that's the 'surprise'(?) ! Oh well, we'll see.

I got the invite but figured that it isn't worth the time to go from Dallas when the dealers should be getting trucks soon. Plus the wife wasn't really interested.
I was super disappointed that the Id.buzz at sxsw was only available for press to get inside.

Per TFL, the media first-drive event will be in Texas. I'm assuming it will be at the same location as the customer event.

Yeah, but remember the F150 Lightning will be able to haul, tow and go off road where your Tesla can't....

I've seen some teslas towing, but it's not a good look - yes, the Lightning is MUCH more utilitarian, which is it's great draw. I told my wife that she didn't need a separate 'suv', the Lightning IS an suv, but is ALSO has a front truck with MORE room than most suvs, AND, it has a huge BED, AND it can TOW, AND it can power other EVs, RVs, and HOME needs... wow!

Assuming you'll be making your way by Giga - Just up the road in Austin. I'm a member of the Tesla club here in Dallas. We have a gathering every couple of months - typically at one of the Supercharger locations. There have been many v3 SC's around here - Austin, Waco, 3 in the Dallas area and Finally North of Dallas.

I think this event will have a very interesting cross-section of EV-only types and die-hard truck people. For Ford's sake, I hope that the team they're sending is equally versed in both sides of that venn diagram.

Are you under the impression that we’ll be able to drive the truck? Or is just coming to the event, no matter what, worth the drive?

I believe there is a 'public' invite, and there are also some of us with 'special' invitation, paid flights, travel, hotel stay, and, yes, the TEST DRIVE experience.... as well as special time with the engineers, marketing team, Ford Execs, etc.

Doubtful, the Tundra factory (way South of downtown) is nowhere close to the Pearl (slightly Northeast of downtown)

Dress cool. It’s summer in south central texas. Corn is knee high. First cutting of hay is in the barn. The temp in San Antonio Saturday is expected to be 101.
Is anyone attending Wednesday? If so, knowing the opening and closing times would be good info for the rest of us going to know. I’m planning to be there Thursday. Thanks in advance.
