My aftermarket 17" wheels fit, barely (tested: 17 x 9.5+12 Black Rhinos with 285/75/17 Falken tires)

Tested my Black Rhino 17 x 9.5+12 Rokus from my Gen 2 Raptor with a 285/70/17 Falken
and they just kissed the carpeted wheel liner at the back. Easy to be screwed back or trimmed. Stock height and wheel weights will need to be tacked strategically but they clear without them.

These are slightly shorter and .4inches wider, closest I could find to stock radius in a 17.

Plan to run these until I can confirm Fox front shocks that level up 2 inches will work, then swap to a larger 34 ish tire.
Going w/ Toyos as these were the weights of some other AT 10 ply brands in the same size:


Toyo. 53.
Nitto G2. 54.67.
Nitto. Ridge 57.0
BFG. 58.2
Falken 58.9 lbs

These Rokus weigh 25 lbs so total weight s/b appx 78 lbs, only 4 more than the 74lbs TC stated the stock Lariat wheel/tires weighs.

17s will be great for winter around here. We put snow tires on all of our cars for the winter. Now the question will be what size tires...(how much smaller overall diameter will be acceptable? Lots of choices in 265 70 17 at 31.7 inches diameter, which is just a bit smaller than 275 65 18s that come on the pro/xlt standard range).

Town and Country Ford put in a device that was for ICE F150 and they had accurate speeds.

@Dirt Tires & Donuts showed in a video that the speed was correct without any adjustments after putting on larger tires. Its a bit of a mystery how. Perhaps GPS or a ground movement sensor.

That's interesting, because while these are almost identical in size, Dirt Tires and Donuts definitely had larger wheels if I'm remembering correctly.

So if that's true, that's pretty cool if the vehicle can correctly calculate the tire dimensions on its own. I'm trying to figure out how that would work, though, because it'd need some kind of standard to compare the new variables against...hmmm.

Thanks for posting the video. Pretty sure I watched that but missed the speedo because it was just running on the side. I'll rewatch it. The only way I can think of is that it must be tracking speed via GPS.

After watching it I have a couple observations:
1. His stock tire calculation is incorrect
2. His oversized tire calculation is incorrect (the difference is 1.6")
3. The difference between the tire sizes (ignoring manufacturing tolerances) is roughly 4.4%

Most of the time you can't see what his dash is showing compared to the phone. You likely already know phone GPS isn't the best measurement device for realtime position. If you look at 11:33 you'll see some flutter where the phone stays at 45 and the dash (now we can finally see it) drops to 43 (4.4%). They match a couple times but given the stacked inaccuracies between the dash, the phone, the actual tire sizes themselves, and the relatively small difference between the two makes it difficult to definitively state the odo was accurate.

What do you think of my observations? Am I wildly off or you see some of what I'm saying?
