This topic comes up often and everybody just just cites "peace of mind" with no basis of comparison. Has anyone actually exercised their ESP yet, and if so what components were covered and what would the bill otherwise have been? A good number of our trucks are now outside the factory bumper to bumper warranty with a number of members already north of 100K. Unless things are miraculously waiting until the 8-10 year mark to fail I'm still not sold.

I'm nearly at 41mo and have also been mulling this over since I'm about to age out. Granger has the 8yr/100K $100 deductible currently at $2645+$70 light coverage with Flood significantly more expensive.

In my case—did it. I never buy extended warranties basically but with my previous truck being lemoned back to Ford now my second lightning, which I love love love—it gives me added peace of mind and I feel much like the others have said there’s going to be a lot of things that are gonna go out—eventually—They could easily pay for the warranty over the eight years. If not, then I’m ok either way. I plan keeping my truck a full eight years/100,000 miles timeframe. By the way, I’ve only had a battery module replaced on my second (current) lightning just over a year ago—knock on wood.

Nope. Every time I buy a thing with an extended warranty purchase available, I instead put that money into an investment account. We've made enough in that account over 30 years to buy the Lightning and the Mustang with lots left over. Never pay an insurance company if you don't have to.

That's a powerful statement! Very forward thinking.

I bought the extended warranty from granger... Be sure you add the lighting package that covers the headlights. My left high beam started flickering just before warranty expired. Documented with my dealer and we both messed up and set the appointment for 4 days after my warranty expired (Holidays, New Years got in the way).. Good news is the dealer took care of it even though Ford wouldn't. Headlight was around $1200+ (quoted with labor). Just noticed the other day it's flickering again so will be taking it in for repair.. BTW at least one other on this forum has had the same left side headlight do the same thing and if you don't use high beams much you might never know there is a problem.

I see Grainger Ford mentioned here a bunch, but I couldn't get a response from them to multiple warranty inquiries I made in a thread they started back in March. Have any of you had luck talking with them here in the Forums?

They don't like making public conversations with inquiries, try calling them in Iowa, note other members have indicated difficulty buying coverage for model 2022 this late in the game, not certain if that is an official policy though.

Thanks for the response, and I get that. I think I thought they might say "PM sent" or to PM them for more info or, if they can't offer a warranty on a 2022 (even though it's still under warranty), that they could volunteer that directly in the thread. No harm done, but I was just surprised I didn't hear anything to 2 or 3 messages directly in their own thread (and at least one other forum member that pointed out they had not responded to me). Thanks again for the response.

Yeah, I got an immediate email response and a phone call within minutes of inquiry.

I was offered one at signing from my dealer, but for about $500 more than Granger. After dwelling on it and listening to my wife, I joined the Granger group. I'm only at 11,000 miles and just began it's 2nd year of life. I purchased "used" in August, but had only been used by Ford in April and May of 2025 before being auctioned to a dealer. I hope not to need it, but will certainly appreciate it if I do.
