It’s fully possible ai’ve managed to miss this screen for two weeks, but came across it finally today:

Ford F-150 Lightning New “Trip Energy” Screen? Also? What’s “Accessories” and “Ext. Temp”? 7530216E-00C4-43A9-805E-5CBBEF0D5BE9

Relatedly, two questions:

If “Accessories” doesn’t include “Climate,” what does it include? I’m not charging a phone, but I am connected of air to CarPlay. And I suppose the onboard screens themselves, and background electronic equipment, as well as running light and other signal lights. Still, surprised that comprises upwards of 13%+ of consumption.

Similarly, I’d love to understand exactly what “Ext. Temp” consumption entails, here in Texas? Here again, it’s not including cabin “Climate Use,” so what is drawing 10%+ power regarding it being hot out?

FYI, this is where I reached this screen from (if, like me, you’ve missed it so far).

That screen has been there since the beginning

Accessories - you have this pretty much right. This is pretty much everything that is running off of the 12V batteries. Screens, processors, lights (esp. Headlights), fans, ADAS, etc. From your screen, you were driving very slowly, or had the car on parked for awhile (over 2.5hrs for 44 miles). This is making the number high. If you get on the highway trip, this will be down around 2%-3%.

Ext. Temp - this is energy used to take care of the battery. In the cold, this would be heating the battery. In the heat, this is cooling for the battery. It is also higher than normal due to the slow driving / being parked and on.

glad you noticed this, too

as I don’t believe I intentionally had this running in park for this long since I started this specific trip computer yesterday morning, I believe something is amiss

and I’m suspecting I know a culprit.

just now I went to take out the trash, and happened to have the key in my pocket. I noticed that when I walked near the truck to take out the trash, all the zone lights came on.

the question, then, is whether those zone light would have continued to stay on for very long?

I’ll keep a closer watch now, but something has me wondering if the truck is kicking into standby unintentionally to cause this length of idol time.

What I’ve been trying to figure out is why that screen and the center dash screen have different miles per kWh

I know it’s a small difference, but that bothers me. Is it two different systems doing the calculations??

Not sure about the difference, but accessories is everything running off of you 12V system (infotainment, audio, power seats and windows, headlights, etc.) Ext. Temp is energy used to control the temp of the battery (not cabin), either heating it or cooling it.
