Swapped Tesla for DeWALT. Swap was very easy. Wiring was the same. Mounting was a little difficult with the dry wall anchors. Luckily I had some around the house.

Main reason behind the swap was overheating. Tesla handle and the Lectron adapter were getting extremely warm about 15-30 minuets into the charging session. Causing a temperature throttle from 11kw to 3.5-5.6. Depending on the temperature of the garage. Which most days slow charging was fine but some days I needed some extra juice.

Amazon actually recommended this to me. I took the bait.

Can’t speak about longevity(obviously) but out of the box. I would recommend. Well built(what I expect from DeWALT) Nice cable. Pretty easy install. App is super easy. 48 amp. WiFi. Surge protection. Screen with data. App has a lot of data too.

felt I needed to share just incase someone was looking to switch.

Funny, I saw that Dewalt charger recently somewhere maybe Amazon?? Dewalt seems to make good products. I figured it would be decent. Keep us updated on how it performs!
If nothing else, it has a cool lcd screen!

I suspect you were using the Lectron 48amp adapter, which others have overheated. Simply switching to an 80amp adapter would have likely done the trick.

Lectron now has one, here.

A2Z also has one, here.

I was looking to replace anyway. This one just called my name the most.

Can you preheat the truck when it's plugged in? Amazon review said you can't. Would like to purchase as I too have been using the adapter that's overheating. Thanks.

Mine worked just fine this morning. Actually doing it as we speak. Worked completely fine. DeWALT app even sent a notification that it had started.

I mean, other than construction sites im not sure how many would opt for this one considering its just as expensive or more, than others.

The W.A.F. is quite low and I can pretty much guarantee that the wife would invoke her veto rights if I suggested putting this anywhere remotely visible.

I don't recall seeing that one on @tommolog 's wall, wish it was more affordable. I think Emporia is still the better option.

The review is incorrect, I have yet to find any level 2 that I couldn't precon from. Probably didn't have their location set.

Best of luck, hoping it supports your needs. I'm just scratching my head how you go from one of the best chargers to one that is absolutlely unknown thinking this is an upgrade. @RickLightning noted the likely culprit which was your adapter.

Heat is a thing when charging - do you have a thermal heat gun? Happen to get a temp?

I’m aware that charging creates heat. I’ve had an EV since 2021. Never said upgrade. I said swap. I was just letting other people know my thoughts on it with it being a newer charger. In case anyone else saw it and was questioning.

At one point the cable was ran over and the EVSE was ripped out of the wall. Which is the reason I’m actually holding it in that one picture. Wall was damaged heavily.

172F was the peak. That was the handle and adapter. With a variance of a few degrees.
Im sure it was the adapter. Never had any issues out of it until recently.

Yeah, that's got a little too much yellow going on for me. Also looks massive.
It’s not too bad size wise. It’s wider than the Tesla one for sure but I think it’s just the way I took the picture.
