New EV calculator-Show you ICE friends how much they could save with an EV!

Now that Diesel is over $7.00 per gallon here in CA, you can show off how much a truck owner can save going electric.

I built a simple calculator to show how much you can save by driving an EV compared to a gas car—over a month, a year, and even five years. I kept it intentionally straightforward, using just five inputs: gas price, electricity cost, miles per gallon, and the cost of both home and public charging per kWh. There’s also a slider to adjust your annual mileage.
I’m offering it for free so EV owners can easily demonstrate the real savings of going electric. I may add more features down the road, but getting this version out was already quite a journey—learning how to design an app in Xcode and navigate Apple’s submission process.

Just downloaded it, and it's a fun tool! Clean design and very easy to use. I'm sure you knew you could get more nuanced with things like maintenance costs, but this keeps it super simple for potential switchers to see the one thing everyone cares about up front.

I would love to do that but I would need to find the maintenance value for all vehicles and lots of owners will do their own work. Suffice to say in 3 years there is no real maintenance on an EV and ICE will most likely have only oil changes. That is offset by the cost of tires wearing out faster on the EV. I think they are too many variations in down the road costs to feel comfortable to add those to the mix.

Actually no. Most of my friends ask and are open to discussion. One poked me once, and I just said "You do you and think of me when you fill your truck." - No debate - The next time he asked me real questions. Now he owns a Lightning. I guess the comment stuck - and the pump price hurt.

No need to push my views..... EVs aren't for everyone yet.
