Ohmmu replied. They are denying the return for refund, claiming the battery was damaged due to overdischarge.
Sorry for your experience, I'm certainly never supporting this company or its product line!!

Ohmmu replied. They are denying the return for refund, claiming the battery was damaged due to overdischarge. This is BS for at least two reasons:

1. This battery is advertised as fit to be used with the F150 Lightning, so therefore it should be resilient against normal use / discharge by that platform.
2. If these were authentic sodium ion batteries, they should be able to be discharged safely to 0V and then brought back into service.

So, Ohmmu is fraudulent and not fit for the advertised purpose in multiple ways. Credit card dispute / chargeback in progress.
That's as shady as them putting a warning on the battery "Store in dry location at 65-80° F". Do they expect the truck to drive around exclusively in an airconditioned warehouse?
I'm sorry for the experience you are having and thank you for the warning.

That sucks about the battery. I am just curious what prompted you to go with that type of battery instead of the AGM ? I was under the impression that the charging for a lithium or sodium type battery requires some change to the charging system... i could be wrong tho.

Hopefully your cc will take care of you and maybe go after them for fraud. Sorry about your issue with them but thanks for the heads up.

It's crazy how companies will abuse customers when a small bit of goodwill would go way further. Thanks to this move by them, they're getting a negative image in the perspective of potential buyers because of a confirmed experience by a member of this community. I was thinking of going with their product once my current battery eventually craps out, but no longer, I will be looking elsewhere. Product fails after less than 90 days and you don't do anything? That's shorter than most return policies at other retailers.

Sure it might be a one-off, but what would it really have cost them to show some empathy and ship out a new battery while taking back the old one for analysis? On top of that, you'd have a customer who would be willing to sing your praises. You'd think they'd want to know for sure what happened to this particular unit in a post-mortem rather than just write it off.

It's very concerning that they claim is was from over discharge. If true, why didn't it have undervoltage protection? That's an incredibly bad oversight and poor design for its intended use case. If false, then they are incredibly unscrupulous. Can't trust their design or can't trust the company...or both? It's pretty clear they won't be getting a penny from me.

How are they claiming "overdischarge" is even possible in a Lightning, given its BMS behavior?

For the record, my Ohmmu battery seems to be doing fine. That is after three weeks in Maritime Canada and Newfoundland in December and January which included two sizable blizzards and some low low temperatures.

I might be a lucky dog... time will tell.

Also of note, I bought and installed the BM200 battery monitor linked via bluetooth to my phone when I bought the Ohmmu battery, listed as an option for the Ohmmu sodium battery.

I had quit monitoring it after two weeks of use back in mid-December. This past week, thanks to the posts here, I turned it back on. My Ohmmu was at 29% - 30% SOC as depicted by this BM200 monitor, although there were absolutely no protests or warnings given by my Lightning. I ran some built-in BM200 battery charging tests, and within two hours of driving the battery was back up to 100% SOC and has stayed there all week. My guess (and it is a guess) is that the BM200's battery charging tests provided some sort of stimulus to awaken and re-regulate the battery's onboard BCM.

This leads me to think that there might be some symbiotic co-dependency between the Ohmmu sodium battery's built-in BCM and their optional BM200 battery monitor. I'll be opening the BM200 Bluetooth connection and running it in the background now at least once every week, just to see what happens.
