PG&E Free Backup Power Transfer Meter

Received an email this week from PG&E about this program. While it is mainly for backup generators, F-150 Lightnings with the 30 amp outlet are on the qualified list. A smart meter with a built in automatic transfer switch, now that's cool...and it's free! Wow.
That could put a dent in GENERAC systems!

So much easier than having to install a manual transfer switch, inlet box etc.

Oh wait...did you see this? Can't use it with a bonded generator and the Lightning PPOB is a bonded system:

"Generator Setup and Operation Guidelines...
Failure to use the BPTM with a non- bonded or floating neutral generator can result in electric shock...
PG&E recommends using non-bonded or floating neutral generators when connecting to the Backup Power Transfer Meters (BPTM), for whole home backup.
• Check your owner’s manual to ensure your generator is non-bonded (floating neutral) and complies with National Electrical Codes and local city codes when connected to the BPTM.
• To verify compliance, review your generator operational manual or consult with your generator manufacturer."

Not sure why they have the Lightning listed as a qualified system in your notice...

NOTE: the Lightning will throw a ground fault with this system I predict
