Unclear if this is a planetary scale disaster from the solar storm, or a squirrel farted on a power line down the road. But the Lightning is powering the house quite smoothly. So much quieter than my big portable generator that I normally use. Same capacity, 0% of the noise. Runs all the lights, electronics, networking/comms, fridge, microwave, well pump, and water heater etc.

The truck's overload trips much faster than the generator, so I can't run the heat pump (heat and AC) until I get a soft start installed on the compressor. The generator just sags, moans, groans, but is able to start the compressor. Weather is nice so no need for AC or heat today.

Nice!

Wish I had the generator input on my house. Talked about it several years ago, but my electrician at the time was not big on them at the time.

Not sure why anyone would want to spend thousands on the HIS.

Great use of the Pro Power.

I also have a 30 amp generator inlet on the back of our house that gets hooked up to a portable Natural gas generator when needed. There is a lock-out in electrical panel for lineman safety. Unfortunately it is too difficult to get the truck close to that inlet to use.

But I wanted the option to use the truck. So I installed another generator inlet inside the garage where truck is parked. I ran the wire toward the original inlet wire and put in a change-over switch inside the house where they meet. This way I can switch between inlets (both are not connected at the same time) and did not have to make any changes in the electrical panel.

Now if the weather is rainy or cold, I can hook up the truck to the house and not have to venture outside. The truck stays dry parked in the garage with quiet backup power. Still have ability to use natural gas powered generator if needed. Best of both worlds.

When I run the heavy power for the fcsp in the garage, I'm also going to bring in some 8 gauge for a second generator inlet. And a double throw switch outside the house to select which one. Sounds like. Just what you did. I have the same interlock on the panel that you probably do.

Close to $10K. Agreed.

It would/could be the superior setup due to being automated and slightly higher capacity. But it is such a discombobulated, unreliable, and over-priced mess today, I would never spend the money on it.

Well from someone who did invest in the HIS and was testing it today as we are getting into hurricane season I'll give you the agrevatupn points that if they fixed would make it a steller system... First and formost (which would solve almost all complaints) if they would boost the Bluetooth signal out of the Ford Charge Station Pro - or be able to add an external antenna to it - almost all complaints would disappear. 2nd for the life of me I can't get the software to pair which without the software paired you can't monitor what is going on. Sure it may, I use that loosely due to my first complaint, transfer over but everything is in km instead of miles etc unless you get in and start the truck... You really need the software. I actually have Sunrun coming out this week to try and fix some of this as I had an early unit and maybe there is a problem with the Charge station pro. I have to have the truck literally 2 feet from the charger to the passenger rear seat where the Bluetooth antenna is to work... maybe... Bottom line is if the 2 issues above were fixed the system works nicely and powers everything in the house including the air conditioner (soft start added) with the exception of the pool pump and cloths dryer....

Our remote Florida cabin is prone to loosing power at least 1/month in the summer with trees downing power lines in with the normal thunder storms. Our ProPower will not start the central air but it runs everything except the 240vac electric stove. We can cook on our portable induction range or gas grill if needed.

So I just installed an 8000 BTU window AC in the master Bedroom so I can have some AC with the routine power outages.

Power outages normally don't last more than 12 hours. FP&L is real fast repairing downed pow00er lines.

Just had Sunrun out last week and ran the system through a total reconfig and a battery of tests over a number of hours... I still have to have the truck halfway in and outside the garage about 2.5' from the Charge Station Pro so that the miserable bluetooth signal from the Siemens Ford Charge Station Pro can communicate with the truck but that I expected without a replacement of the FCSP. Now time will tell on my biggest complaint and concern. Will the configuration remain. What has been happening is that the unit thinks it is configured but fails to communicate to fail over. The only way to fix that is a rather easy method of resetting the FCSP and the truck EXCEPT you can only do that when you have power. If it has lost the communication and you need to fail over you can't get the power you need to reconfigure the FCSP and truck... Both myself and the Sunrun guys believe it's the FCSP but we have to work up the chain to possibly get that replaced.... If I get that fixed a simple external antenna soldered into the FCSP would probably fix my first problem... I love HIS when it works... 1 min 30 sec after power loss everything cuts over...

Yes that was with my base load of lights & electronics, plus the well pump and tank water heater operating. If I'm running the heat pump (central AC/Heat), I typically leave the water heater off until I need to shower or something since that will be bouncing off the max load.
