I believe the system uses rolling codes and certainly senses the presence of the fob (and won't drive without one); I've not heard of a single Lightning being stolen, so what is the cause for (no pun intended) alarm?

In a strange turn of events, Ram pickup trucks are being stolen like nobody's business. #1 in thefts at the moment.

I’m not sure what to do with this new found knowledge.
I'll give it a shot.
  • Buy fob pockets to act as a Faraday cage to prevent signal cloning.
  • Boot your truck yourself. (My luck they'd use the 580 hp and 775 ft/lbs of torque to spin the boot one time and total the truck.)

I would sooner sell my truck and use the proceeds to move to a better area than boot my own truck . Wow. I wish this post had more all caps. . :)

It would be nice if Ford gave us a PIN to drive feature. Seems like an easy to implement peace of mind for those concerned about possible vehicle theft

If you’re really that concerned to the point where it requires a separate step the drive the car…just pull fuse 32 every time you get out of the truck.

Guaranteed a car thief isn’t going to sit there and troubleshoot it, then happen to be carrying a spare 20A. Especially true if they found it unlocked. It would spook them to no end.
