So, I'm using PPO to charge another vehicle at about 4kW....works fine...done it several times previously (and actually one of the reasons I bought the Lightning). But this time was different: worked fine for a few hours, but then I got a notice from the app saying I was approching the PPO reserve setting. Strange! The reserve setting was set to 10 miles! When I went to look at the truck I could see it was at 46%....nowhere NEAR the 10% setting! I let it go for awhile, and sure enough, PPO shut down. I went into the settings and ran the reserve setting way up, and then back to 10 miles. I restarted PPO but again, I got the low reserve warning and it shut down. I did this 4 times. I then started and stopped the truck trying to reset everything. But, the results were the same....PPO shut down. Hmmm, I again went to settings and this time set my reserve setting, instead of "Custom" and 10 miles to "nearest charging station". Fortunately the nearest is just 3 miles....and now it worked fine. It seems the " Custom " setting isn't seeing actual miles.
Anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix?
Thanks

I have had PPO shut down on reserve, but it was correctly. I am pretty sure it was set to a range.

I thought the automatic shutdown timer would disable when you start PPOB, but maybe it's not or you accidently re-enabled the shut down timer?

It has driven me crazy from day one that the PPOB cutoff is in miles/km and not battery %. Stupidest design ever.

Not at all. What is important is that you have enough reserve to get to a charging station - regardless of what percentage of battery that takes to get there. OK, granted the GOM is not exactly the most accurate thing...

True, but 10 miles vs 90 miles is a big difference. This issue seems like more than a GOM problem. I'm just glad there's a charging station close enough that that option worked for me. If the nearest charging staion was 100 miles away....could I even use the PPO?

No home charger setting?
If you had one, would that make a difference?
It would be zero miles away if using PPOB at home, but maybe it ignores the home setting?

Hmmm, interesting thought. However, interestingly enough, I am using PPO WHILE I am charging with a home charger, albeit a 120v 1.1 kW offgrid solar charger so I'm taking power out at a rate of more than 3x that of going in. So, I'm AT home! But I will have to look at the "Home Charger" option...don't remember seeing that. Thanks

Maybe that would work.

The process is use the truck menu (features/settings/charging?) or the Ford app energy tab, plug into your home EVSE, set the parameters (percentage, time of day, etc) then save the location as Home.

If "Home" is greyed out, which has happened for some strange reason, then use your street address for example and create a new location, set parameters and save.

One of the last OTA updates I got wiped out my HOME settings and I had to start a charge session to then reenter the parameters.

Shutdown timer is off, and my home charger is set correctly. I did go in and delete and then re-add my home charger...didn't make a difference. In fact, now, I can't use PPO with the reserve setting at 10 miles (the minimum allowed) at all. It says reserve has been reached and won't even start up. But it does still work when set to nearest charging station. I actually have been successful using PPO for a few years now without issue, but seems to have developed this problem since the last update..."Feature Enhancements...." which, as a basic Pro model I shouldn't have gotten in the first place.

Oh wow.
Strange!
I also have a Pro and use PPOB - I guess I better check it to see if a recent update messed it up.
Was the "Feature Enhancements" this one: SYNC-25.2.1.6.5.2 which I got on March 3, 2026?
Seems it was for SiriusXM which the Pro doesn't have standard.
