This will be my first new car purchase. How will this work? I know there are a lot of unknowns, but what should I expect?

if purchased during truck month will we benefit from the cash rebates?
Special financing: will the Lightning qualify for their truck promo of 0% over 72 months?
- how difficult is it to qualify for that? All based on W-2 and credit score?

With 150k reservations, I wouldn't hold your breath for any type of incentives for the whole first generation. And the first couple years of the next.

I think the only special will be Ford Options, hopefully they have that $2500 back that they give for the Mach-E. Other than that, I don’t think any rebates or incentives will apply. Not even Military.

Right now, not only there are no incentives, but the interest rate is 5%. If that is still the case next spring, I'll be arranging financing through my credit union (currently 1.7%)

Thanks for reminding me. Just a heads up, DCU will do 1.24 for 65 months for EVs. For 72 and 84 months they’ll take off 0.25 whatever rate they offer if you are buying an EV

On the Mach-e forums they are saying they site should be updated tomorrow or the next day. I am hoping, since we should be picking up our Mach-e in a month or 2.

That’s awesome! I was banking on PenFed being pretty competitive at 1.9%. Thanks for the tip!

edit: jk, PenFed is at 1.49 for 60months. Not bad, but still not as good!

I am hoping the feds don't raise rates when I get the truck because 1.49% and 1.24% is sure looking mighty nice!

At the minimum:
  • $7500 federal tax credit (claim at end of year)
  • $2000 CA CVRP (post rebate)
  • $1500 CA CCFR (POS credit)
  • $1000 Utility (post rebate)
  • L2 charger installation rebate
  • CA Clean Air HOV sticker

What credit union is DCU? I don't recognize the name.
I had to google it. Digital federal Credit Union. Online bank with seemingly great auto loan rates.

FMC just changed their financing scheme. They will now place much less weight on FICO and much more on overall credit history, income, and current expenses.

Time to look ahead and tune up your credit!
