My first use of a Tesla SC was yesterday. Charging at the New Boston, TX SC couldn't have been easier. plugged in and it started charging immediately! I added 63kw in 37 minutes.

However back up as to how I got there: .....Fords software issues continue.

Planning my simple trip, 135 miles from home, The Blue Oval Charge Network web page showed New Boston, TX Tesla SC as compatible as did ABRP. Before we left I went to set my destination as New Boston on the Ford navigation system but checking for nearby chargers the Tesla SC didn't show up. So I tried "Charge Assist". same story, not listed, only EA chargers 30-40 miles away. However it does show up on Ford Pass! Trusting the web, Ford Pass, and most importantly ABRP, we proceeded on the trip. I used Android Auto for the navigation setting the Tesla SC as our destination. But I noticed that AA had the Tesla SC as "incompatible".??? There is no place in AA or Google Maps to specify what kind of vehicle you have so it must pick up vehicle type from Fords AA software in the truck. I'm ok with that but I'm not ok with AA incorrectly tell me that the Tesla SC is incompatible.

Glad I take very few out of town trips and have the choice of my wife's ICE car. the uncertainty of charging means taking a trip with a Ford EV isn't for the feint hearted.

You can modify your vehicle settings in Google maps. Tap your photo in the upper right, tap Settings, tap Your Vehicle.

About 75% of the 50,000 miles on our two EVs have been road tripping (>500 miles round trip by my definition). There's a short learning curve, but it's rarely been problematic.

For Tesla NACS superchargers, I will always verify with the Tesla app or website (tesla.com/findus). They're currently the primary authority until other networks implement NACS.

I'm typing this from a no-hookups campsite 423 miles from home.

The Lightning is my favorite road trip vehicle ever. The Toyota Sienna has a slight edge in comfort, drivability, and utility, but because it's not electric it doesn't take top billing.

Honestly now that I have the adapter, I got a Tesla charging subscription and the Tesla app is all I use anymore. All I do is manually find the next charging stop 150-225 miles down the line using the Tesla app map and charge until I have a 20% milage buffer before leaving.

I’m not holding my breath for Ford to fix their crappy integrated nav so this method works for me without doing a ton of mental gymnastics

I never count on the Ford app to tell me ANYTHING accurately. For Tesla charger compatibility, I use the Telsa app. For route instructions, I use Waze.

I lost faith in the Ford app the first time I used it on a trip to our camp in Maine. The dirt road our camp is on was moved over 75 years ago. But the Ford app still shows the path through the woods that the road used to take back when Truman was President.

I only trust ONE source: Tesla.
Their MAP app, with filters for 'Other EVs' and 'NACS vehicles' is the sole and best source. It even links to a directional map, since I use Google maps also as my 'only' GPS : )

That would be a very popular family vehicle.
Toyota Sienna PHEV with like 100km or mi of electric range is my dream vehicle lol.

I'd also accept Honda or Mitsubishi.

Consider downloading the TESLA app, under charge other cars tab it will tell you what's available for use. So far it only shows me the stations that my Lightning can charge at under this tab while, our Tesla shows all the stations available with the price.
