Ford F-150 Lightning Turns out you really can charge a Tesla from a Lightning ⚡ PXL_20230512_203428388
New Tesla Y Performance came half-charged; no Tesla charger at home, so I took it from 43% to 90% in maybe 6 hrs running off the 240v ProPower in the bed ... not a permanent solution, but way faster than 120v home charging. I will repeat the test again with better time and power notes, but it 100% works with just the Ford mobile power cord and two adapters (NEMA and Ford->Tesla).

You can also charge an Mach-e. My dealer had to ship my car to me and didn't realize it could not be fully charged and it was at 100% so they had to discharge the battery before the shippers arrived. They drove it a bit before realizing that wasn't going to work without adding a lot of mileage so they charged the Mache-e that they had on the lot

Nice. I suppose we can charge just about anything with the right combination of adapters. Definitely never would have dreamed that I'd fill up one of my own rigs from another like this... reminded me of when the planes do the in-air refueling.

I keep this in my frunk. Everything I need to charge a Tesla, but mainly used to troll my Tesla friends.

The air-to-air refueling analogy only works if the Lightning and the Tesla are driving while connected and charging! 😂

So you took the Tesla from 43% to 90%. How much battery % did it take from the Lightning?

"and flying" lol but yeah, small, sporty craft filling from larger "tanker" craft using the same "fuel" they both run on... but you're a pilot, so I guess I'll defer... just what it made me think of.

Not sure... " I will repeat the test again with better time and power notes " when she runs down again

There's a video on out of spec where Kyle charges 4 or 5 other EVs off the lightning, maxing out the pro-power. It ran for I think 8 hours and still had juice left in the lightning.

Assuming long range battery, 81kWh capacity, 47% is roughly 38kWh. On a ER lightning, that's about 29%.

Worked for me too. Charged my wife's Telsa Model 3 at a local mall. Only used trickle charger that came with Tesla but it was enough to get us home. Go Lightning!

I had this idea as well. Likely a good business model!
