This Tuesday: See How Ford’s ‘Bounty’ Culture Will Deliver Affordable EVs

Ford’s Universal Electric Vehicle project is one of the most audacious and important projects in its history.

Following the introduction of the UEV Platform and Production System last year, we’re excited to share this next chapter about how Ford is taking on the challenge of the electric vehicle cost equation by chasing physics.

Join the UEV team for an in-depth look at how they approached the new platform to deliver more value for users, starting with a mid-size electric truck in 2027.

Tune in right here on Tuesday at 11 a.m. Eastern time to watch: "Ford Bounty Hunters: The Pursuit of Efficiency."

Want to keep up with the latest on Ford electric vehicles?

Sound like it's just going to be another fluffier piece with no hard data, and no hard presentation of what's supposed to come (which I will believe when I see it).
Believe it. Louisville stopped production of the Escape/Corsair last December. It is currently being changed over to support this new platform.

Ford tends to over react if it gets too much attention. I'll wait and see what y'all have to say after it's over.

The last presentation on the platform was pretty dull. At least I could watch it without registering.

Affordability isn't a marketing goal -- it is an engineering output.

  • Ford is Making its Universal Electric Vehicle Platform Low Cost by Focusing on Efficiency: To deliver a family of affordable high-tech electric vehicles that are fun to drive and can compete with the best electric vehicles on the global stage Ford hyper focused on overall efficiency including design and aerodynamics, engineering, battery management, software and production.

  • You Don’t Need a Bigger Battery, You Need a More Efficient Vehicle: You don’t fix range with a bigger battery; you fix it with a more efficient vehicle. An electric vehicle’s most significant cost driver is the battery (40%+ of the total vehicle cost), so we designed a vehicle that simply needs less of it. Ford teams focused on reducing the size of the battery. We are solving the cost equation by chasing physics, not competitors.

OK this video is a lot better. Upgrading 12V systems to 48V is nice but still 400V HV battery system seems like it's outdated out the gate.

Well done, this will not be the usual Ford small car. I bet the dealers will hate it too ...

I’m so uninterested in Ford as a future company, and it’s almost entirely due to Farley’s rudderless nonsense from “we make expensive passion vehicles and don’t want to make commodity” cars in 2022 to writing off all of their EV investments to-date so the taxpayer can shoulder that burden in 2025 to “let’s make commodity EVs” in 2026.

I’m happy with the two products we got from Ford’s engineers, but I have zero interest in spending any more money on the company. We’ll mostly likely buy our next vehicle from Rivian or Scout.

I like what they are talking about here but have to see the implementation and the product release to realize how many of these changes are actually implemented.

Also, if they are making universal EV platform, why not redesign the F150 Lightning as well on the new platform instead of cancelling it all together. Does not make any sense.

Efficiency is nice but charging is just as important. See Lucid Air v Porche Taycan. I suspect they aren't targeting family road trippers though but that forces them to have 2 vehicles so Farley's alleged money savings go out the window.

Because Lightning hasn't been completely cancelled and a compact Lightning isn't a good replacement. Some of this might be usable on the Lightning EREV but this is a tightly integrated compact vehicle platform.

Again, "Universal EV Platform" should be able to accommodate the full size lightning truck, EREV should be part of that equation as well, just like scout is doing.

Like I said, what they are doing and what they are saying just does not make any sense at all.
