What is it when your lightning or Mache is in a dealership for warranty or recall work, and they need to provide you
with a rental it isn't an electric vehicle.

We invested in 2 ev's (lightning and Mache) and the dealership can only provide an ice vehicle.

That is ridiculous in my opinion. When we owned a Tesla a Tesla was provided if our vehicle was in the shop.

Is anyone else having the same situation?

I've only needed a loaner twice, but I've always had a Mach-E. My service advisor knows I only have electric vehicles.

It's easy for Tesla to give an EV for s loaner. That's all they make.

I have mine in for warranty and recall work, they gave me an ICE F150 loaner. I asked for an EV but they don't have any. Guess ICE is better than nothing.

This is one area where sales and service really need to team up. Whatever vehicle gets the dealership the best margin as this loaner is a sales opportunity. That's probably why it's usually an Edge, I bet those generate the most profit per vehicle for the dealer.

Had this conversation with an attorney on a different vehicle. From his reading the warranty on a Kia for my nephew, Dealership is not obligated to provide a loaner vehicle. They do it as goodwill and get reimbursed by Kia.

I took my Lightning to the dealer yesterday for 3 software updates and Battery monitor sensor replacement. They said it would take 24 to 48 hours. They would not give me a car but only a Uber to my house and back when it is done. I am now stuck at home with no way to go to the store or anything.

My dealership gave me concierge service, drove me home and then dropped off my truck when the CSP's were done! I was shocked. Never had that before for a 2 hour service! Usually had to either sit around and wait or have a family member drive me to and fro, or walk if the weather was nice. Only about 2 miles to the dealership though.

Never needed a loaner car so far (knock on wood) or a long repair service, with the lightning.

No major repairs was also my experience with my first EV, a 2012 Nissan Leaf bought in Dec 2011.
Still runs great with about 80% of the original range almost 13 years later.

My truck was in as my local ford dealership for a few days to address the frunk light under warranty. I asked for a loaner since it was going to be a few days to include over the weekend and I was told "NO Since I didn't purchase my truck from them I couldn't have a loaner" @Ford Motor Company

That sounds like BS. I never take our Mache or Lightning to the dealership I bought them from and have always been offered a free rental. Unfortunately, an ice vehicle, but at least they offered.

As a longtime Tesla owner - sometimes they provide a Tesla loaner, sometimes an Enterprise rental (but getting to the Enterprise location is out of pocket for the customer) sometimes an Uber voucher, and sometimes nothing at all (at least not unless pushed very hard). There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it but I have been told it depends on Tesla corporate's whim and the ebb and flow of new and used vehicle inventory - largely put of the hands of the local service center too.

Yea it definitely put a bad taste in my mouth about going back there. The answer of only if i bought from them is ridiculous. I have had all kinds of vehicles and had them serviced at dealers I didn’t purchase from and have never been told that before. Now that you fired me up I am definitely not going back there.

It has nothing to do with a warranty. It's called something very foreign to many businesses today- Customer Service!

Many dealers eliminated loaners due to liability. Ford provides them for recalls, and some other repairs, at their discretion. Shouldn't be a surprise to not get one for those that research before buying.

As to getting an EV, until the past year there weren't any. Months ago Ford gave dealers incentives to convert Mach-E stock to loaners.

Really just comes down to what they have available and what they’re willing to provide.

It varies by dealership and by the services being performed. Typically, they are under no obligation to provide you a loaner or other transportation for elective services. That includes certain warranty and recall items that don’t affect the use or safety of the vehicle. There is no government requirement or mandate that says they have to provide a loaner vehicle under any circumstances. Ford’s warranty terms do provide for a loaner vehicle under certain conditions. Many dealerships offer a loaner or will give you Uber credits as a courtesy. The dealership I do most of my service at offers loaner cars, but often they don’t have any available unless you request in advance with your service. Another dealership that I don’t use as often due to them being further away does provide Lighting or Mach-e loaners for EV customers. It’s a nice perk. But it takes forever to get scheduled there. Even then…. It’s what they have available. When I had my Lightning in for update issues, LVB problems last year at that place, I was given a Bronco Sport as a loaner for a couple days.
