What's this 'mechanism' in front of the rear wheels...

it mounts to the frame, and to the sway Arm... looks like a hydraulic 'lift' of sorts... with maybe an electrical connection behind it...

Do you have the scales? I’ve never seen how they work but if this would seem to be the easiest way to just measure pressure in the bed. This assumes it’s only on the rear.

I found ones mounted to the front wheels, too... maybe this is a sensor connection for the AWD or TRACTION control or LOCKING DIFFERENTIAL.... interesting...

That's how the scales and smart hitch and all those cool features work. The suspension system is a known constant (k) and these measure system displacement (x). So using F = -k*x you can know the force or mass at each corner.

I believe that is just based on a gyroscopic sensor (or a couple basic tilt sensors)

Yeah, displacement sensor makes sense. There are probably a number of things that the truck's computer can use that data for monitoring/calculating.

I'm not aware of different headlights, but with you lifting the front up, did you change the height of the rear?

If I remember correctly my top of wheel well to center of wheel hub did not change.
