  1. Dent Repair on Hood - Anyone with experience?

I read the same about the aluminum oxidation but was worried that the oxidation would push up the neighboring paint and expand as it broke off more paint. The dealership sold me a paint tool for like $40, it is basically an abrasive stone and an oversized nail polish container except it contains...
  2. Installed Generac Transfer Switch and still getting ground fault

Adding to the possible causes, I had this same issue of GFCI faulting even with the switching transfer switches mentioned here. There was a light switch box with multiple switches and circuits, someone had taken all the neutral wires and twisted them together instead of correctly making...
  3. Well pump tripping GFCI

I promised I would return with the final conclusion of this thread. The electrician who has been helping me chatted the journeyman he used to work under and both said the isolation transformer would do nothing. They told me to remove the ground wire from the generator inlet box which is what the...
  4. It's All About the Delta (and Temperature, but the BMS will Protect You) -- Test: Effect of temperature on battery cells life

Wait what?! Is that supposed to be lifetime charge cycles, 3,000,000 miles? I had heard charge cycles for a cell phone in the range of 1,000.
  5. It's All About the Delta (and Temperature, but the BMS will Protect You) -- Test: Effect of temperature on battery cells life

This is some excellent data! If I am understanding the takeaways (and lack of mention of charge rate as important) it would seem charging amperage is not highly important to lifetime as long as the battery stays cool? So the suggestion that the 80amp charger should be turned down is not worth doing?
  6. Well pump tripping GFCI

Well sure an isolation transformer would be a good solution but it cost more than unplugging the wire. I just didn't think it would be safe without a ground wire but he made an interesting point about the well casing. If I understand removing the ground wire the danger would be a short...
  7. Well pump tripping GFCI

I talked to the electrician today, he had an interesting thought; of course the easiest solution is unplugging the ground wire, though he proposed from the well pump and its controller. When considering the dangers he pointed out that my metal well casing is a huge ground rod. The only danger...
  8. Well pump tripping GFCI

Possible, the well people were not helpful so I didn't get to question them much on stuff. They didn't want to figure it out and just wanted to sell me a fuel generator. Basically they had two solutions: new pump or a sell me a generator, they did not entertain any other possible solutions or...
  9. Well pump tripping GFCI

They appear to be ~$2,000 for a 3/4 hp one now. Also have to run the four different copper wires down a 380 foot well, so a lot of copper. And just professional time. But these numbers are for my situation at 380 feet, I know pumps get exponentially more expensive as you increase their head...
  10. Well pump tripping GFCI

    That's like a $5,000 option.
  11. Well pump tripping GFCI

I still think the isolation transformer would be cheaper. You left out all the breakers you must buy and add to the Generac box, I thought those are like $50 each. Plus that time fishing wire around breaker boxes is not free. The isolation transformer Maquis linked was $700 and I presume the...
  12. Well pump tripping GFCI

Hey Maquis, thank you for helping me. Right at the beginning in the first reply you got me exactly the information I needed to fix everything.
  13. Well pump tripping GFCI

I have a neutral switching transfer switch, I am able to power the rest of the house with the truck currently. Indeed but this number ignores the time, either your own experienced time or an expensive electrician, to route circuits from the main breaker to the transfer switch breaker. I had...
  14. Well pump tripping GFCI

Ultimately I'm not going to debate the electrician who comes out, they have been willing to do more stuff to help me with the truck generator stuff but they didn't want to handle a well pump and then the well people were no help at all. This is why I am pleased with the isolation transformer...
  15. The frunk is so slow!

Does everyone else's frunk and bed door almost always require two button presses? I walk up, press the bed door button, it makes beeps and I hear stuff actuating, nothing happens, press it again, it opens. I assume it is attempting to close on the first press but I don't know why it is always...
