Price is obviously a major consideration.
I hope the industry figures out production so they can sell EV Pickups in the $55,000-$65,000 range. It won't satisfy everyone, but it will go a long ways towards increasing sales.
Charging stations are another major factor, but now that I can use...
Exactly.
Great vehicle.
But Ford is purposefully not advertising it. And I get it, they are losing money on each one they sell.
I don't pretend to know the economies of scale necessary to get to at least breakeven (100,000 units a year? 150,000?) but selfishly I would love to see Ford push...
It makes no sense.
The Ford Lightning is a great vehicle, EV or not.
Although how much is Ford advertising the Lightning? Ford may not want to sell many if they are still losing money on each one.
I wish they would think long term and sell as many as they can....even if they are losing money...
REALLY nice. Hopefully the software on the Mercedes cabinets is good and stable like Tesla's. next thing would be to replace all the Electrify America cabinets with these!
BTW it is great marketing for Mercedes.
Simple pleasures in life....charging at close to 169 kWh!
Since getting my Ford (newest one) adaptor I have used some Tesla DCFCs, and it is great when I am charging at 160 kWH. If/when Ford comes out with their next Gen Lightning, I hope, hope they can charge at over 200.
It makes all the...
"...doesn't handle heavy loads?...."
It is a Ford F150. You can't compare it to a F350.
It's payload, and towing capacity, are great.
I have had discussions with friends that have trucks, "your Lightning can't do this or that..." But they are driving a diesel F250, with an extra fuel...
Good point. GM is leaning into advertising their EV lineup.
They have a lot riding on getting volume sales with the Blazer EV, and the other EV models. Not as much riding on the Corvette sales.
Of course, IMHO the Ford Lightning is better than the GM EV pickup, but that really is never the...
Yes, General Motors is big on ADVERTISING & MARKETING
Don't have to have the best product, if you advertise it really well. And if your product is decent, then you will do well.
If you are a Tesla fan, seeing this kind of of marketing may make you wish Tesla did at least SOME advertising.
I just charged my Lightning Lariat at a Tesla station yesterday.
With the brand new Adapter Ford sent me, plugging in and charging is super smooth & quick.
One difference with the charging is speed though. The Lightning will charge a bit slower than your Model Y probably does. Not a huge...
