2021 Job 1 Early Access BlueCruise and I'm seeing the same behavior - I tend to place a hand back on the wheel in anything more than a very gentle curve in order to initiate the turn-in and turn-out and avoid the delayed lurch into the corner followed by over-correction. I also noticed the...
Update on my situation - I had initially contacted my dealer who were unable to replicate the problem, but to their credit (see below) they suggested replacing the trailer brake control module. However I wanted to be sure of a solution so elected to wait on this while I tried o gather more...
FWIW, I've had the trailer brakes fail partway through a journey (= hot?) and also fail i.e. not present from cold start, truck had been sitting for hours (= cold?) and then re-appear midway through several hundred mile journey home after being shut down (rest stop) for 15mins.
I don't think...
Just trying to understand this - is your thinking that hitching up provides a common ground path from the trailer frame through the hitch ball to the truck frame? And that the only way that a 7 pin connection wouldn't provide the same thing would be if the 7 pin ground connection was faulty?
JEB, once and for all and as I've stated before this has happened to me on more than one occasion - once, leaving racetrack in July (down a steep hill!) and based on my habit of checking manual operation of the controller I'm pretty certain but OK if under oath I guess not 100% (since the issue...
Not wrong so much, but I wanted to stress (i) I didn't have great difficulty, I simply could not get a connection before I set off and (ii) I've long been in habit of checking manually before I set off ... but this isn't much help if the trailer brake function can be lost randomly sometime...
"Absence of Evidence is not Evidence of Absence"
So, updating my experience ... I had the trailer brake controller fail to recognize the trailer and so fail to function on several occasions in July, including confirming working then failing midway through a journey without any stops/restarts...
Jeb, just to clarify again, I experienced a disconnect while driving along without stopping or restarting etc. At one time in at least two trips I've made the trailer brakes were working, then later in the same continuous journey they weren't without any change in headlight switch or headlights...
OK, picked up my trailer - started with headlights OFF, plugged in trailer and, trailer brake tested OK, drove away and tried switching headlights from OFF to ON to AUTO, made no difference, trailer brakes worked fine under all cases. I'm not saying there isn't something going on with the...
JEB, making sure I understand your theory - are you saying that if you start the truck, turn headlights to Off, then this will disable the Brake Controller? And that if you then turn headlights to On the Brake Controller will be restored? Or something more complicated or intermittent?
This...
I forgot your headlight comment - and you're right, that points to a controller that's just way too smart for its own good  although I don't understand how that leads to the programming switching function sometime during a journey? But scary, considering the truck would usually have...
JEB, I was just surprised you'd think someone wouldn't notice the brakes not working, but understand that may vary with circumstance - for me the car hauler is 7,500 lbs or maybe more, I have the controller set @ 7 and my particular hitch gives a bit of a "clunk" when the trailer brakes engage...
JEB, I think you're suggesting that people may not notice the trailer brakes aren't working and need to verify with manual operation ... my case is a 7500lb car hauler and I suspect Antimatter is a similar weight travel trailer. You'd have to really be not paying attention to not notice if the...
Journey started by leaving Pittsburgh Intl Raceway, which is a *steep* winding downhill road, so yeah :p I'm sure the trailer brakes were working at that point - sometime later on the toll road in Ohio they stopped working - which was an unpleasant surprise!
JEB in my case the trailer brakes failed after about an hour on the road, no stopping or starting, they worked and then they just stopped working!
The 4-way adapter I'm talking about is the 7-way to 4-way adapter supplied with the truck - for use if someone needs to connect to a trailer...
