Exactly. I would never consider the Lightning to be an investment. It's money we are spending because it meets many needs/wants for us. It isn't something that would've been an option for us financially even a few years ago.

I was thinking that exact thing as I read this. Perhaps the dealer set up an account for him and took care of reserving the Lightning in his name, trying to be helpful to a long time customer.

But that doesn't mean invitations will go out right down that original list. The dealers can prioritize, and Ford can follow that or not, or bump a totally different person up. It seemed clear that dealers won't know for sure who's getting invites until Ford gives them the names before each wave.

I take "directly before" to mean they'll only get a very short lead time on when customers are notified. Similar to if they had said "right before." But that's only my interpretation.

Did your dealer specifically say that you were getting an invitation to order in the first wave? I wonder if they found out their allocations but don't have the names of customers that are getting first wave invites yet. As of Dec 16th, mine didn't know their specific allocation number but...
