Had the same issue with the same filter. Motorcraft FPP92 solved my problem although it doesnt filter quite as well (occasionally smells make it in) but the improved airflow is worth it to me.

As a software professional I lament that the current state of software development is at an all time low. Its getting hard to trust any software these days and find that I even need to even monitor my bank.

Possible rodent damage? This was the first symptom I had followed by several others but fortunately it was drivable. Dealer found the damage fairly quickly but took several days to get the replacement parts installed.
