Completely agree, I've been to all of those places in my Lightning, I was just saying some charging stops can be a bit long. The only real problem I've ever had was once when Kayenta was off line (there was a connection issue, no non-Teslas could charge), and I had to limp back to the...
It's been interesting hearing your experiences with the Silverado, I appreciate it. I do very similar drives to you, same parts of the country (I know most of the charging stops you have on your map!), and I sometimes wonder about the Silverado when I am trying to make long stretches in Montana...
Sounds like the shifter, yes. I had this (almost) same thing happen, had it replaced by Ford, and then the new shifter started to feel janky again so I swapped it for the rotary. The rotary is great, best mod I've made to the truck. I've had the truck in 2 times for two recalls and no one has...
I've had first a tonneau cover and now a cap (a smartcap), no change in efficiency at all. This has been documented, not by me but by others on here. As long as it doesn't stick out above the cab, you will be fine. Just get whatever best suits your needs and don't worry about it.
I just looked at the ABRP featurbase, and there is a thread from about a year ago:
https://abrp.featurebase.app/p/tesla-failure
Someone from ABRP said this:
"Tesla has removed status from all third-party apps. We are in the process of reaching an agreement with Tesla and until that is...
That's a good point. Maybe a year ago ABRP did show the Tesla station status, but it went away sometime in the last year or so. But, yes, clearly, they are willing and/or able to do it with Google Maps ... I wonder if anyone knows what's changed? My suspicion is that if ABRP *could* show these...
Thanks for the video, Chris. I agree with all of your points. I've always loved road tripping and doing it in an EV just suits me perfectly. It's great.
Maybe I am on outlier, but in my hands, with the OBD dongle, ABRP is about as good as Tesla at picking a route, and estimating your charge...
Yup, I get it. I drive in the west a lot, too, and it can sometimes be ... difficult. It's getting much better of course, but when I was last through Kayenta and the supercharger was down, it took a bit of white knuckling it to make it work. Would have (perhaps) been easier in a Silverado...
Congrats on the new rig, sorry to see the Lightning go, I've loved your travel stories over the years! Thanks for posting them, and hope you love the Silverado!
From what I can tell looking at the temps of the battery and what Ford nav tries to do when preconditioning, it's trying to get the battery to about 91 degrees F to DCFC. So this could be a warming or a cooling function, depending on the outside temp. In my experience, once the battery is warm...
Yes, I've seen this, but just a few times. In general I find the navigation of ABRP pretty good, but occasionally it's slightly wacky. Is this an exit you pass a lot? Does it always suggest taking it? I guess when I've seen it I've been far from home so I don't know about the repeatability of it.
Yeah there is something brewing at Ford with Bluecruise. I have a '24, so I am one of the people that FMC apparently hates (no discounts showing, no free years, etc.) but I did get a call last night from Ford asking about my experiences with BC and I told them how I felt. Which is basically that...
If you only use Ford nav for elevation, but would like to use other mapping software, ABRP shows elevation while routing, at least on my phone. (Along with battery temp and a few other bits.) I use the pro version, not sure about the basic version, but the pro version shows elevation for sure.
