UPDATE:
Battery module have been replaced by dealer. (Third time in 30 months of ownership)
Any of you familiar with any recourses that are possible from the manufacturer?
- VIN Specific Extended Powertrain Warranty
- Buyback programs
- other options
I love the truck and plan to keep it...
Yup I did that.
Removed target charge, location and all.
Drove 100+ KM from 70% SOC. DC fast charged when at around 20%. Charged up to 60% at 65 kW then session dropped to 11.7 kW. Had to leave so left with 62% SOC.
Arrived home with 8% energy left. Plugged in overnight on my Charge Station...
An OTA update did happen around the time I recently charged (after getting a power train failure message) . I can’t pin point if the update stopped a charging session or happened just before or after. One thing I know for sure, the issue did start 1-2 days before the update.
This is valid hypothesis indeed. Will revisit when times are warmer. Interestingly it is easy to find chademo plug covers but almost impossible to find J1772 for the port itself…
Thanks, this insightful. The dealer’s only technician who does HVB tests was on vacation. I’ll return next week.
I did have 2 modules replaced in the last 2 years. The issue appeared differently but I agree this smells like a module issue.
Have you had this happened to you?
I have 2023 SR Lariat
Charge station Pro at home
My default charge is 85% with a 100% request 2-3 times a month for longer trips
Twice in the last week
- ask for a 100% one-time charge
- after a few hours app, charge port LEDs and truck screens all indicate...
Yeah it’s a new thing for me too. Been visiting this carwash for years with my lightning without issues. Only the last two trips were problematic. Wonder if it’s wear and tear on the spring or they upped the pressure on their nozzles…
Yeah, I am indeed considering options I could perform just before entering the carwash. I’d prefer a cleaner / more permanent setup. Not sure how secure tape would be in this cold weather, but certainly worth the try.
Yes I did find a few plugs on Amazon too. Looking forward to seeing if it does the trick. I’ve been going to the same car wash for years without issues with my lightning. Only the last two visits were problematic.
I wonder if there is some wear and tear on the locking mechanism making them...
My last two trips to my local automated car wash ended up with the jets having enough pressure to pop open the charge door.
It would not be a huge deal if it was warm outside, I could simply let it dry up. But I live in Quebec Canada where for weeks temperatures are -15C to -20C well below...
so after a bit of troubleshooting of other semi related issues I discovered that the onboard Modem was not responding.
The three main options I saw were:
- bring the car to dealership
- unplug 12V battery
- remove and reinstall fuse #32
I went for option 3, waited 5 minutes after unplug and...
Since yesterday my Lane Centering Assist and Blue Cruise stopped working.
I do not have any error message in the vehicle or in the app. I can use adaptive cruise, it will slow down if Vehicle are slowing down in from of me. It will detect lines on either sides and show orange if going over the...
I bought mine at full price because it was the only one compatible for the backup power feature. However, the backup power feature requires A LOT of additional investment (5K$-7K$ CAD)to work and is actually not possible in my area. (not CSA certified or other quebec regulation). At this point...
It is the second time in 12 months (almost to the day) that I have a "Powertrain Malfunction/ Reduced Power" notification that leads me to visit my dealer who then needs to change a battery cell to my 2023-Lightning Lariat SR (30 000KM). And by coincidence, a fellow owner in the same city also...
