I use the SRNE inverters (two at 12kW each) and this provides power for the whole house and my workshop, charging the lightning right now too!
Solar, battery-bank, and EV make a great system where you can share power from the main home battery system or the EV depending where you need it. (and...
It reminds me of the whole surfing beach-party type of vib from the El Comino ... does the Slate come in Lime-Green ?? lol
but seriously, the problem I see coming is what about service? not like there will be 5,000 Slate dealerships across N.America. I wonder if they will partner with another...
I was wondering about jumping my lawn tractor from the 12 volt battery - since it is a bit easier to access than removing the side panel - is there any danger of upsetting the computer stuff doing this? - anyone know for sure??
I was planning the same: two sets of tires, the stock set for summer, and a more aggressive set for winter. Just take the range hit as a cost for traction in snow.
The more EV options the better for consumers, not everyone has the same need from a vehicle.
The more EV's on the road, being used, and seen will increase interest, and hopefully increase how many chargers are built and where.
I would think the best case for Walmart to see EV's charging is someone on a road trip, wants to stop for a charge and meal or pick up supplies they need. Not really the place for shopping an hour for groceries - well unless they can't home charge for some reason.
I can't think of anyone I...
If you have a solar - battery system, you don't need the truck to provide more than the average daily load/24 hours. ie you can power an average homes' 30 kWh per day load with just 1.25kW steady supply from the truck as long as you have batteries & Inverter big enough to start your biggest...
I think it's great that you can post your situation on the forum and get a lot of feedback from members that have owned and driven both vechicles - great to hear your decision and hope it works out well for your business and use. The best part - ya got a great EV I am sure you will enjoy for...
If my EV is avoiding road tax, that I will have to pay separtely for it's fair share of the road cost,... but I also have an ICE
- so it should have an "AIR Tax" to pay it's fair share of removing the pollution it adds to the air??
I looked at all the options, compared:
Price
Insurance costs
Repairability
Parts, service repairs long term
Aftermarket stuff - fit and price
Cab size/function.
Then I compared side by side two F-150's: the ICE vs EV, and looked at cost of ownership & operation for a ten year expected service...
someone says - "hey, those new electric vehicles don't pay their share for road tax, that's not fair"
so governments come up with a new fee for EV's, and given the chance, yeah they go high.
Here in Ontario they don't have an EV road tax - or at least not yet.
Or daily driving it and enjoying for a few years until the next generation of batteries come to market - were in early stages with EV's, there will be rapid advancements over the next decade...s.
