i just did this over the weekend. It’s fine. Just tight enough. I put a ratchet strap around the lid and cut the excess. Works great to pull up quickly.
@ZSC100 Assuming you figure out the software component (good job and thank you), how much were the parts and how would you rate the difficulty of install? Any special tools needed?
On eBay right now, if you search for VIN 1FTVW1EL7NWG05344, it looks like it is a parted out Lightning with PPOB. Don't quote me on that, but it looks like it has the wiring harness for $250 and the DC converter for $630.
If Ford truly wants a really great platform that will win over the average consumer, they need to have a landscape screen similar to Tesla that will play videos from all major streaming platforms and incredibly EV routing software. And buttons, keep the buttons.
I thought he was referring to a lower cost of ownership compared to a 3 year old Tesla.
Example: $26,000 for 2022 Tesla Model Y Long Range, but the lower efficiency causes more power costs over lifetime and higher weight causes more tire replacements.

Their office is right around the corner from my office, and I've spoken to Josh Turner via e-mail. He's very responsive and seems like he wants to do some good for the EV community. They are also getting some sort of funding from a family-owned oil company, so that's good to have some backing.
If Ford is going to leave older vehicles on BlueCruise 1.4 with no further updates, then they should offer a discounted subscription program. $41-$50/month is insanity when you're paying for mapping updates.
You could probably hunt around for a low data plan if you don't want to add a line. T-Mobile does Data with Paired DIGITS that lets you copy your phone onto a second SIM card for $10/month. But you could probably find an ultra cheap prepaid line to accomplish the same.
It's a bummer to not get...
