I was having a similar problem. I turned the lightning adapter end to end and same thing. But when I kept the lightning adapter ends the same then flipped it over, all my problems went away.

You shouldn’t wait , the Comma works on every road, unlike BlueCruise that only works on specific roads. You can pull out of your driveway and it will work on your street!
