Yikes, I assume you "remembered" before driving away(?). I though of this same issue with mine and haven't figured out the permanent discipline "solution" just yet but I like the yellow tape. Perhaps expand on that idea with a "remove before flight" type ribbon attachment. Only this time, it would be after the "flight". :-]

Yeah, visual reminders are key for silly stuff like this. Hence all the yellow and orange warning things in factories and machine shops...
