  1. How much power does "camping mode" consume?

No, I was using the bed outlets Other people's comments about the battery tempterature are interesting - and a possible source of lost power? It got into the mid 40s overnight, so if the truck was using juice to keep the battery in temp range??? I have no idea how much power that would take...
  2. How much power does "camping mode" consume?

No to everything except the key fob - that was kept inside the cabin. But could whatever commo back and forth have sucked up THAT much power?
  3. How much power does "camping mode" consume?

I put the quotes in the title because of course, Ford has failed to deliver such a (seemingly) simple option. I just got back from an overnight camping trip, and was shocked at how much juice I lost running only a small powered cooler. Truck left "on", lights off, climate control off and...
  4. Bozeman, MT Lightning owner near me?

Just checking, does anyone here live just off Fort Ellis Rd? I just moved in across the ravine from you... I thought walking over & knocking on your door might be a touch creepy...
  5. Ford Charge Station Pro keeps crashing when it reaches charging level

Many thanks to everyone who suggested a firmware issue - it seems like (now that the unit has been operational for 3 or 4 days) that it is no longer crashing. So I guess the firmware updated? It IS charging a little slower when it's hot out (throttling I guess due to temps) but no longer...
  6. Ford Charge Station Pro keeps crashing when it reaches charging level

The outside temp is only 75 degrees right now, it is still crashing. As far as WiFi signal, I get 2-3 bars (out of 3) on my phone standing next to the charger, so I think it is getting enough signal strength. As I read the instructions, setup involves connecting my phone directly to the FCSP...
  7. Ford Charge Station Pro keeps crashing when it reaches charging level

I got a free FCSP when I bought my 2023 Lightning ER, but it sat in a box in my garage for 2 years until we (finally!) bought our own house. Electrician ran a dedicated 100 amp line and installed the FCSP the other day. Now, the FCSP will slowly ramp up to 16.6 kW, only to crash a few seconds...
  8. Does anyone have a "Gap" policy for new vehicle?

BLUF: what do youhave for documentation of your Gap policy? Reading another thread about a (probably) totaled Lightning made me a little nervous. I've had my lightning for less than 2 years, but I still owe more on it than current Blue Book. That's fine, I plan to hold onto it for 10 years or...
  9. Compensating for Elevation in Route Planning

The "Appellation Mountains" - is that what you are "calling" them? Sorry - I couldn't resist the unintenional pun!
  10. Range & Charging Question for Montana EV owners

Hi everyone, I'm moving to Bozeman in a month or so. One of the things I love to do is to explore the wild places, but MAN, Montana looks like an absolute DESERT for DCFCs anywhere north of the I90/94 corridor. Do y'all just not travel at all to the North Central / Eastern part of the state...
  11. Sault Ste Marie to Montreal, can I make it in an ER?

Just one quibble - I love PlugShare, but to say it "doesn't miss chargers" is just not correct. It is crowd-sourced, so by it's very definition, people will find chargers that it doesn't know about yet. I myself have "added" two chargers that PlugShare did not know about. FWIW those chargers...
  12. Kudos to my local Ford dealer (Kendall Ford in Bend, OR)

I was a little overdue in getting my 20,000 mi service done. Plus, they notified me about 2 "recalls" or required software updates (or whatever the current euphemism is)... So I booked an appointment, had to wait a few weeks but I know they are pretty busy... I get a call a week or two ago...
  13. Pushed charge too close on road trip

Suggestion: stop trusting the GoM and start practicing math. Reset one of your trip odometers when you are at a steady-state at your desired speed. After a few miles it will tell you what your efficiency is (in miles per kilowatt-hour) - for example, 1.2 mi/kWH (worst I've had not when towing...
  14. How cold has your truck been?

Thanks, I did not see that thread previously! I am now less worried. I may be moving to a place with routinely low temps every winter....
  15. How cold has your truck been?

A few years ago we went skiing in Big Sky, MT, and the outside temps got to the negative 20s at night. Our ICE rental car just died. Even when it 'warmed' up to above zero, it would not work the rental car company had to tow it away and give us a new one. I know all about efficiency losses due...
  16. Your Username - why & what does it mean?

What a great thread! When I was in the army, there were two of us named Rich on my small team, which had the number 025. And I was known as “Rich L” instead of just “Rich” (for my last name). We would stencil our team number after our names, on packing boxes & such. So I had “Rich L 025”...
  17. Ice buildup in front undercarriage

I did not notice any restrictions on turning, or any other parameter - everything seemed pretty normal except for the (slightly annoying) noises.
  18. Ice buildup in front undercarriage

Yes, before our cursed early spring here in Oregon, we had a pretty long stretch were it didnt get above freezing, and I had some heavy ice buildup underneath - it caused some interesting creaking and popping noises when turning. Went away as soon as it melted.
  19. Winter Trip Report: Seattle to Whistler BC

Great write-up - I will be doing your exact route (except starting from a bit farther away) this weekend, so good to know your efficiency, for example! Thanks for writing it up!
  20. Got the Truck yesterday Newbie

Welcome to the family! If I can make a suggestion (learned the hard way) - first thing you should do is learn how to estimate your range by SOC% and efficiency. Don't pay attention to the Guess-o-meter (don't ask me how I learned this!)
