  1. As anyone been accepted into PG&E bidirectional (v2x) program yet?

Sunrun called me and asked if I was interested. Infilled out the Ford early access disclosure and registration from a link they sent then they set up a phone call. They assumed I did not have solar for some reason. Once I told them that then they said I would have to wait until they were...
  2. New Simpler Approach for HIS wiring

How would they know if I buy the parts and install it myself? Also the need for backup is temporary given an outage. That’s what the HIS is for. That’s what the collar is for.
  3. Change carrier for the truck's wifi-fi hotspot?

...have used a phone as a hot spot in Northern Idaho where we spend time. Good cell service is a little different then the dysfunctional SunRun system. Since a failed download could be related to poor cellular service. Supporting the need for a reliable strong home WiFi signal to the truck.
  4. ChargePoint not found

Don't forget to blame Sunrun! They shipped the damn thing after all....
  5. ChargePoint not found

...shows up in my Ford Pass APP because it can’t find the “ChargePoint Not Found” can’t pair to the Ford Pass App. So is the cause crappy software, or crappy hardware, too many moving parts, cannot keep a signal Wi-Fi or cellular, too many vendors Siemens , SunRun …. or just crappy ????
  6. New Simpler Approach for HIS wiring

...available here, I would totally do that rather than completely re-engineering my service entrance. Being realistic, it's unlikely Ford and Sunrun would officially support this though. It's a "hack" for lack of a better word, using permanently installed equipment combined with something...
  7. New Simpler Approach for HIS wiring

Thank you sir! That pro power info is great! I believe Ford and Sunrun would be eager to support such a configuration as sales have been dismal to date. In theory this configuration is something any electrician could install with explicit instructions. The parts are not horrifically expensive...
  8. New Simpler Approach for HIS wiring

...the ATS) is likely still necessary because it has the autotransformer required to create the neutral for 120V loads. I wonder if Ford/SunRun would support your proposed setup. BTW, you can keep the tonneau cover and tailgate closed with Pro Power (see...
  9. Pro Power for Home Backup Power Enhancement Suggestions

I have the Ford/Sunrun system and have been working with Ford support for months trying to get the system working reliably without success. The latest is that they say they have an engineer with a solution soon but I’ve invested thousands in the system and can’t get it operational.
  10. Has anyone successfully had HIS installed and HAPPY?

Hmmmm my charger is always connected. So you can't even see when your charger is connected to your truck through the ford app?
  11. Installing a Home Integration System for Intelligent Backup Power (without SunRun)

...and reliable HIS turns out to be a nothing more than mirage feel free to drop me a line. As of for now I’m still working with Ford, Sunrun and their (for lack of a better term) co-conspirators in trying to resolve all of the nonfunctional issues surrounding my HIS. However come February 29th...
  12. Has anyone successfully had HIS installed and HAPPY?

Just triggered as a back up. Can I do that with the ford app supposedly? My FCSP is basically always offline unless a Sunrun tech comes out and does a hard reset and re connect to the truck and house. But it looses connection in a day.
  13. Whole home back up - a simple approach

Does your solar still operate while using the Lightning as the backup source?
  14. Whole home back up - a simple approach

That's great to hear, John! The intelligent backup power system of the F-150 Lightning is most certainly awesome, and a feature we're proud to offer!
  15. Has anyone successfully had HIS installed and HAPPY?

Yea see I really need the app to work because I need to be using this daily. Are you at least able to set up times it sends energy back to the grid or is it just triggered as a backup?
  16. Has anyone successfully had HIS installed and HAPPY?

So do you feel this is a viable option to be used on a daily basis? Is it easy to setup to to automatically do this daily during certain chosen hours? I’m looking at PGE pilot V2X program and want to be able to send electricity back into the grid during peak times. Also do you mind me asking...
  17. Has anyone successfully had HIS installed and HAPPY?

Sunrun was slow and hard to communicate with. Just a pain to deal with. HIS works but does not connect to the internet. But it does charge my truck and back up the house when power is cut. So happy? It works. Kinda.
  18. Has anyone successfully had HIS installed and HAPPY?

I have and I am super happy with the equipment and the Sunrun team. Since being installed a year now we have only had one power outage and it worked perfectly. Turned the house back on in about 10 seconds. I plan on having them back to install a small battery that will eliminate the lag so...
  19. Whole home back up - a simple approach

...cost approx $200, and another $75 for 50A extension cable to the truck. I realize it may not be as automated as the HIS system or a single transfer switch, but it allows me to back up my whole main panel without moving any circuits, and it is lower overall cost, and no dealing with Sunrun etc...
  20. Has anyone successfully had HIS installed and HAPPY?

...GFI but it was fairly inexpensive. It is exactly the same functionality as a standalone generator but with longer runtime and no fumes. The sunrun system gives you automatic transfer and more amperage, plus integrated charging. Not worth $10K to me but if you are going to integrate solar...
