I will jump in and say I thought I settled my install 2 times. Both times with a local sunrun tech who's number i saved that I can call if it doesn't work. This last time, with all the updates the truck, HIS, and charger have had, seems to have solidified it much better.
I still haven't used...
...was also designed for solar integration (i.e. bidirectional charging). My impression is that added a lot of complexity/cost (i.e. the Delta/SunRun inverter, backup interface, dark start battery, etc.) not needed by many/most customers. For customers who just want automatic backup power and...
Sunrun is not required to do the installation. Tom Moloughney of State of Charge had the HIS installed by Qmerit. But anyway, he put out a super helpful video, linked below, that went into everything regarding his experience with the HIS. Thanks to his video I learned before I bought my truck...
The overall cost is a real bummer TBH.
I wish instead of the proprietary Sunrun install, they'd gone a different direction - build a Ford-branded automatic transfer switch that I can get any qualified electrician to install in-line with the FCSP (and perhaps a communications cable between...
...successes. You're looking at around $9k or so. I know of one very well-documented install attempt, with heavy involvement at high levels of SunRun and Ford, that ultimately failed, and the owner was compensated. That one involved, among other things, WiFi conflicts with neighbors that...
...to tell everyone things are working.
The HIS works but the cost is ridiculous for most people. If I lived in a place with unreliable power or an offgrid system then it might be a good idea.
Sunrun can't organize shipping a charger so I definitely wouldn't use them for installing anything.
I’ve been searching but have only really seen people complain about Sunrun, the HIS system itself, or the app. I’ve seen a successful third party install on YouTube from a contractor in San Diego believe the customer has documented that install here as well but that seemed like a nightmare.
Im...
...resurrected it.

This quote hits:
" However, I’ve been quietly trying to work through all of the issues discussed in this and various other threads...
...nice if they had a claim page with vin verification and ownership proof.
Like that Ford can confirm delivery as maybe the standard right now is pitch it to Sunrun but I know it’s first owner only,
But just maybe they can both make it a little more current owner oriented if delivery was never...
Also try Sunrun, but I suspect you may run into the same policy.
Given that the majority of these were sent to address' of record of original buyers, it's likely that it's already been sent and the original owner either sold it, or installed it and is using it for another EV.
...to see if anyone has bought a used 23 Lightning and inquired if the pro charger was ever delivered to original owner, possibly contacting Sunrun or Ford, I know they were only made available to new purchases but what if original owner never had the product delivered, secondary market has a...
I finally got tired of waiting also. SunRun kept giving the run around. So I sent Jim Farley an email last Thursday and BAM! His executive staff called Sun Run and got the charger shipped out the next day. Got it Monday.
I got my truck in December of 22 and it took 6-7 weeks before I got my charger. Funny that sunrun said then, it was a data issue between them and Ford. I think it's BS and they can't meet demand or run out of stock, but you are supposed to get it in a week as others have said once it's marked...
...is ER and yes was super cool of them to loan us a charger. We live 30+ miles out of town so charging locally would be a PITA
Contacted Sunrun yesterday and truck was still marked “in production” so I called the dealership. If I don’t see some progress by end of week I’ll escalate.
Sounds...
Sadly I am more concerned it will be sequentially based on VIN number being entered into the OTA system…..still waiting on that first update. Heard 2024 will be a good year, or maybe 2025☹️??
The Install guide on page 7 talks about opening the cover and on page 16 about replacing the cover - it unsnaps via "Hand Pulls" so maybe that info helps? The image of snaping bakc on shows where to push:
"The unit can be left in box to protect from any
scratches or debris. Using both hands...
After 6 weeks of run around by SunRun with no sign of them even caring about resolving the non shipping issue, I finally sent an email to Jim Farley at Ford and his executive office called SunRun directly and my CSP was shipped the next day.
Ford knows SunRun has some serious issues fulfilling...
