^^^^^^ One Caveat.
In ICE form you have far more range of both options (especially a-la-cart) and pricing, especially on the lower XLT price range.
Ford first of all charges a LOT for the barebones XLT "standard equipment" that is above the Pro Standard Equipment. They even clearly list the...
Again, I understand the disappointment, but then the sideways remark that follows it..... Like a $75k Lightning is "frilless", or "Ford really dropped the ball"
I looked up the idiom = made an error; missed an opportunity
Maybe. But I'm going to bet that Ford sells every Lightning they can...
Yea, if I had a black interior, oh wait, I do.... and that crazy glass roof..... then on summer days I bet I would rarely ever retract the screen.
I rarely do. In fact, most folks would never know I even have that giant window to the stars in my truck.
Note: I bought from inventory. So.....
No frills? Seriously?
How can you possibly know how "filling" ? that $75k Lightning actually is to drive?
You must have had some AMAZING vehicles in the past?
I'm not picking on you even if it looks that way. I actually am sympathetic to anyone discovering their own personal budget has been...
In my opinion, the difference between an XLT and Lariat Lightning just isn't the same as the difference between an XLT and Lariat ICE F150. Far more overlap on the Lightning.
Thus my dilemma.
The ONLY way I can have both the Powerboost and the Lightning is to wait Ford out for a Pro.
If I'm going to have one of two at a high trim level, it'll be the one I would sit in for long periods of time. Traveling and towing the RV.
A $75000 Powerboost is more...
I completely understand your point, but for some who have always considered a truck as a necessity, and for all the reasons one can be, the 3 cars you listed above at that price point, if parked next to a Lightning at almost any price point, would still look like a lot less vehicle. :)
As...
Better yet, grab a Pro and do Katzkinz.... And if you are really honest, it'd be a legitimate comparison to a very nicely equipped Lariat ICE truck. Seriously.
That's why the ICE trim labels are possibly a big mistake. Afterall, "Pro" isn't "XL", so they shouldn't have used XLT either?
Obviously there is no F150 EV XLT that is a mirror reflection of an F150 CrewCab XLT 302A truck.
To be honest, the Pro SR is only fabric seats away from being a better equipped truck than that XLT 302A.
It's a trim level context issue.
Ummm, in order to not start an oil thread I will not mention brands, but there are millions of us that can't find the oil we use at Walmart. Believe me, I would love it if I could. :)
Well put. And yes, for whatever the reason, Ford isn't making an effort to prop up a "middle-ground" version, as you put it.
That also reveals that the Pro SR isn't likely a very profitable product, but I personally am grateful that they are even willing to sell it to a non-commercial entity...
I'm waiting however long I have to wait for the "Barebones" Pro. Of course Barebones is kinda redefined when you actually look at what it is.
Looks like the shock is mostly those from the historical legacy F150 XLT 302A value equation space. THAT makes sense too. It has always been a great...
I just built my "bare bones" Lightning.
Barebones has been redefined.
775 Ftlbs of Torque! ???
AWD
9.2KW ProPower onboard
Front trunk
Sync4
And it's beautiful to look at. ?
And never another drop of 93 octane or Synthetic oil changes.
XLT isn't exactly apples/apples with EV F150 VS Ice F150.
But I agree that does leave the obvious comparison and now I understand the stickershock comment.
Kinda wonder if maybe Ford shouldn't use the legacy trim names.
A fascinating moment in Ford F-series history. I wish my grandpa who lived to 99 was here to see this.
I've driven F-series trucks for a half century, and rode in his and dad's trucks as well.
I figure he'd look it over really good and finally say "Well, would you look at that. isn't it...
Bingo. For me at least.
I've been driving pickups for 50 years and although the REAL reason for the necessity is when I have TRUCK things to do. But most of the time the truck is just doing "car duty".
My intentions for the electric F150 is to run the wheels off of it. Lol
It's going to get...
The 2013 43mpg derate was amusing as an owner of the same drivetrain but in the CMax body.
I was unaware of the "debacle", although my wife was getting about 41mpg in her fancy new fully loaded hybrid.
After she let me drive it a few times and I discovered how the Hybrid worked and began to...
There's a couple of fellas on other forums that have purchased bargain builds at XL and XLT trims, taking advantage of the traditional pre-Covid huge discounts off MSRP and then tenaciously added in numerous oem features using clever parts acquisitions and some great Forscan "tuning".
Point is...
