  1. Has anyone undercoated their truck?

We have our delivery trucks hot oil undercoated every year, this round I had them do inside and outside of the frame on the lightning. They also drilled and sprayed the rockers but whatever it won’t hurt, at least they stayed away from the power tailgate and frunk. I haven’t seen any of the...
  2. Lightning Software Updates using FDRS

If anyone was having issues updating on the previous FDRS version as Mike G was talking about the struggle I had last weekend trying to update. I went and got another license and tried the new 46.5.6 and it is now working again for me. Was able to get the list attached all done and up to date...
  3. 40 amp charging on 8 awg copper.

If it was me, I would keep it as is with the 40a breaker. Just de-rate the charger to 38 or 36a for peace of mind. You could also set the charger for 80% of max capacity if really worried for more of a safety cushion. As long as it’s copper not aluminum wire it should be ok, as always if not...
  4. 80amp charger questions

I would stick with the other brands that make 80A EVSE some people have issues with the ford app and the charger working together. Autel, grizzl-E, and Flo all make 80 amp options just make sure your utility doesn’t require a certain one to work for your time of use tracking if your power...
  5. Max Tow brake components for a LIGHTNING are the same as non-Max Tow

Also when I look up rear brakes in my catalogs for any current gen f150 ICE or BEV the rear rotors are different size depending if you have max tow. 336mm for non tow and 350mm diameter for the max tow. Although it may only be correct for the ICE trucks I don’t always trust these catalogs haha
  6. Lightning Software Updates using FDRS

Make sure when you updated FDRS you checked the cleared all user data when installing. either way make sure Wi-Fi has strong signal and internet works, then when icon goes red in FDRS you can click it to re-connect, if it does not close FDRS reboot and re-login. The downloads sometimes fail a...
  7. Lightning Software Updates using FDRS

The rep could have just been trying to sell me the VCI haha, but I tend to believe him as mine gets IMPA/APIM updates done in 45-55 minutes and seems to go pretty fast compared to other aftermarket VCI I have seen, OBD2 is only so fast anyway. I had to double check and there isn't an SD slot on...
  8. Lightning Software Updates using FDRS

Vcm 3 and master tech 2 are the same just different color cases as per my tool rep. the wifi USB adapter can be used to interface wirelessly (which I wouldn’t recommend for programming) It is also just as fast I just did an IPMA update in about 45-50min
  9. Alarm settings missing on my '24 Flash

I would have to check the build sheets, but I think the Flash in 24 doesn't have the security active alarm package like the mache etc. has. I haven't tried jacking up the truck yet to see if the alarm goes off without the key nearby though. I know I do not have the alarm sensor options in my...
  10. 2025 Order banks open through dealers today (2/11/25)

Weird that on 25’ flash battery is 122kw usable. Lariat and up still 131kw usable, so 3 different usable capacities now?
  11. FordPass App Huge Bug?

I also get app oddities with truck/app updates that seem to mess with my charging/departure times. My fix so far has been: 1. Log out of all FordPass devices 2. Fordpass factory reset in settings/general/reset 3. unhook 12v LV battery under frunk for ~5min 4. Re-set up charging location by...
  12. Departure Times Just Will Not Work-AGAIN

It's worth a shot, I'm not sure if they are outsourcing the coding of the app or we just got some bad hires in the software dept lol. I had to edit to clarify I noticed the ford app notifications not the EVSE app notifying me of the preconditioning while away.
  13. Departure Times Just Will Not Work-AGAIN

I had this issue on my 24' Flash and after updating the truck fully with FDRS I still had it. The problem is it randomly comes back due to something weird happening between the app, server, and truck or the OTA system changing an offset with the time zone. The way I fix it is to log out of all...
  14. Climate Control issues - Setting Departure Time Schedule is messing with function.

I had something similar happen on my 24' Flash where it would pre-condition at a -2 or -3 hour offset to my set times. The fix I found was to log out of all devices on ford pass and then do a factory reset under settings/general/reset and then reset the ford pass options on the truck. You will...
  15. 94% Battery Health After 8,200 Miles

The report from my post is generated with fords FDRS. The dealer can also pull it with their OASIS software. any of the supported VCI will work with FDRS just check the pinned thread on the forum here for more info.
  16. 94% Battery Health After 8,200 Miles

If you're not checking with the FDRS/OASIS software I would take it with a grain of salt. I'm sure some of the BCM monitoring is held in the proprietary software for fords FDRS and not shared over OBD. For instance, I just ran the FDRS BECM Health on my Flash at 4556mi last time I updated and...
  17. Lightning Software Updates using FDRS

Sometimes there are DTC set that a particular update fixes. I had an issue where it wouldn’t clear the PSCM codes until the ipma and pscm modules were updated. Whatever was in the newer version fixed it. If you had a real serious DTC set that wouldn’t let the truck get into its programming mode...
  18. Lightning Software Updates using FDRS

Be careful using a battery charger as a power Supply. The boost modes are not designed for hours of continuous output at the rated 50A. Most times it’s only 15-30 min and it’s not supplying a steady state of voltage or amperage. IPMA updates can be 1.5-3.5 hours depending on your VCI speeds so...
  19. Private Ford EV Technicians

yes it is an expensive investment. In my case the pl6100 was around $350 and the Bosch mastertech 2 VCI I found on discount for $1100. But you have to factor in that the dealer would be charging 200 an hour for doing the updates so if you have a list thats 6-8 hours to do like the list above...
  20. Private Ford EV Technicians

With the OTA updates not being available I would invest in a laptop / Vehicle Communication Interface (VCI), get a power supply and get the truck updated yourself. It’s pretty bulletproof and if you are fairly competent the software is designed for auto techs who are not tech people at all. I...
