Curious as well. I have tried both with and without 1pd in the snow and I definitely prefer 1pd. Reminds me of using engine breaking to slow down in a manual. Could be that I am just more familiar and comfortable with that though.
I recall that thread and the verdict was ~50F. That said, I don't usually plug every night until it gets below freezing.
On the main subject - upstate NY and no garage so all charging is outside. No real issues with either the Ford Pro or Grizzl-e L2 chargers freezing over the last several...
Well - not everyone has a 120V outlet near where they park their car, so they would have to install something.
It also depends on how cold it gets where you are. Our first EVSE had to be replaced under warranty, so we had to go without it for a couple weeks in the middle of an upstate NY...
Resurrecting this old thread of mine to let you all know, that after months of trying, the dealer has given up and told me if I want reimbursement for any of my hotel / rental costs stemming from the powertrain failure, I would need to go through Ford. But Ford told me I had to go through the...
Maybe. I just foresee lots of folks "saving money" by not installing a home charger and letting their truck idle for hours in the driveway to charge the battery.
I would rather they just stick with basic hybrids and pure EVs. All of the data coming out on plug in hybrid vehicles is that almost no-one ever bothers to plug them in and they end up getting worse efficiency than a non-plug in hybrid, sometimes even worse than the pure ICE variant as well.
Not sure where you got that 5,500lbs figure for the Lightning. My 2022 ER Lariat is ~6,800lbs empty and the Platinum is heavier (~7,000 if I remember correctly)
Absolutely! I don't trust my electrical skills enough to do that work myself and when I had it quoted, the Generac transfer switch was close to $4k installed by an electrician.
I ended up just investing in some very good extension cords to power critical loads from the 120V outlets and that...
I was thinking of lax standards and ignoring safety issues due to schedule pressure, but yeah - sabotage is a real concern. I wonder if this plant supplies any defense contractors.
Well that isn't good. Beyond the impact to the automotive industry, I have to be concerned about the conditions at the plant that lead to repeat fires.
I like to roll the dice. A little over 3 years and 47k miles in. Parked outside in the heat and cold. Still on the factory 12V battery with no issues. My wife is the same at 4 yrs and 57k miles on her Mach-e.
Eh - A Maverick is significantly narrower than an F-150, which is a major selling point for a lot of folks. Much easier to park and drive on narrow roads.
