I've done the same and it works really great. I had actually bought it for a previous tow vehicle and now use it with the Lightning.

I wound up going the Meross route with HomeKit. Opening all three garage doors, from anywhere, by voice command.

Honestly - I have not even tried to configure Meross with Carplay - I'm just pressing the steering wheel Siri button and giving the voice command "Open Garage Door x". I have a triple door garage so I'm guessing the carplay integration as you describe it would be frustrating to me also!

I honestly can't say - but you could try it? The camera I'm using now is 1080p (overkill for my purposes) and the feed is crisp.

Yes, when I tested it (see pics above) I was not hooked up to anything. The feed just uses the Aux Camera selection from your available camera feeds.

Most travel trailers don't have a hitch receiver (frame mounted) and rather put a hitch receiver on the rear bumper - which won't support the weight of two eBikes. Most recommend not putting anything over 50lbs on these. They are typically 4" square light gauge hollow aluminum tube - not good...

Thanks for that. I don't think it will work for me as I'll be towing a travel trailer and the front tire and fork would likely get jammed up with the hitch, propane tanks, etc. on the trailer. Cool design though and great idea.

I hear you. I've got ORBI throughout the house - I've got a detached garage so I lit it up with the Airport in bridge mode to extend that network (via hardwired / ethernet between).

I've got a no-longer-used AppleTV. Guess it's found a new purpose ;)
