  1. Comma AI self driver assistant

Just installed my Comma 3X and drove it around a bit. Pretty remarkable, although I have a few kinks to iron out before I'm 100% comfortable with it. For anyone thinking of buying one, make sure you get the long cable. Otherwise you'll be taking a last minute trip to best buy like me.
  2. Is there still no way to leave climate control running?

One of the best things about driving an EV! I leave the heat/AC on while I'm out running errands, and nobody's the wiser.
  3. Tripping Pro Power breaker with 120v welder

I'd believe that, too, even though the error I got was the "Item(s) plugged in exceeded the system's maximum capacity" one. Unfortunately I don't have a transformer based model to compare it with...
  4. Tripping Pro Power breaker with 120v welder

Thanks for the awesome reply, hturnerfamily. I do have the 9.6kw ProPower, and of the four 20A outlets in the bed, I was plugged into the upper-left one. I think you're absolutely right-- Breakers designed for home use are much more tolerant of sudden peaks, like the kind my cheapo welder...
  5. Tripping Pro Power breaker with 120v welder

I was welding 3/16 so it was set pretty high. Awfully sketchy for it to draw that much current when it's only equipped with a regular 120v plug.
  6. Tripping Pro Power breaker with 120v welder

I don't think it's inrush current, since it was able to run for a good 3-5 seconds before shutting off. I think it must be unusually peaky while it's running. Maybe there's a way to smooth out the current draw?
  7. Tripping Pro Power breaker with 120v welder

It was overload. Odd considering it didn't trip the 15A breaker on the house, though. Maybe the software is throttling it somehow?
  8. Tripping Pro Power breaker with 120v welder

Now that I'm a Truck Guy™, I decided I needed to learn how to weld. So I went to harbor freight and got a small welder and convinced my diesel mechanic buddy to show me the ropes. The unit I bought had a pretty short extension cord, so I figured I'd just plug it into the bed outlets and we...
  9. Article: How Ford’s F-150 Lightning, Once in Hot Demand, Lost Its Luster

Just my two cents, but a lot of these negative reviews have a "sitting in a chair in the sky" quality to them. EVs are incredible. Nearly everyone that buys an EV says that they're never going back. Yet, because they're somehow not better than ICE vehicles in every single use case makes...
  10. Disabling F-150 Lightning's Beeps, Dings, Chimes, Honks, Bings, Bongs, and Dongs

The "key-in" chime is the triple-chime ("doo doo doo") that you hear when then doors are closed and you press the start button. Yeah, I hear you on the backup beeper. It was a no-brainer for me due to where I park (basically right next to my neighbor's bedroom window), but I can imagine people...
  11. Disabling F-150 Lightning's Beeps, Dings, Chimes, Honks, Bings, Bongs, and Dongs

The point of the megaohm kit is specifically to avoid this error, methinks. I'd definitely contact them and ask for a replacement.
  12. Disabling F-150 Lightning's Beeps, Dings, Chimes, Honks, Bings, Bongs, and Dongs

I haven't noticed an error with the Megaohm kit. Curious, what is the specific error you're getting?
  13. Disabling F-150 Lightning's Beeps, Dings, Chimes, Honks, Bings, Bongs, and Dongs

If you're like me, you'll agree that a stock F150 Lightning has too way too many audible warnings. This thread catalogs the different methods I've used to turn them off, sorted by overall annoyingness. Hopefully it's useful to someone! Note that many of these noises are federally mandated...
  14. Crossing the stream(s)

That's a good idea. Gives me an opportunity to plan a route through it as well.
  15. Crossing the stream(s)

    Definitely the intention! 👻
  16. Crossing the stream(s)

While it spends most of its time on pavement, I definitely bought something to roll in the mud. I love the idea of my Pro as a do-it-all vehicle, and I don't mind taking on a couple of dents and scratches if it means proving that my EV is every bit as capable the ICE version. I take it up into...
  17. Crossing the stream(s)

I've heard of people doing the crossing in a Subaru, so I don't think it's too bad. The biggest rocks are around 10 inches in diameter. Still, I worry about what happens if one were to get high centered somehow. I remember reading an early review of the Lightning where they jumped it: I'm...
  18. Crossing the stream(s)

There's a lake out where I live that's only accessible if one is willing to cross a decent-sized creek, then four-wheel drive up a steep embankment: (This isn't it exactly, but it's close) On paper, a stock Lightning should have no problems, but it does involve driving over some decent sized...
  19. Future Battery Upgrades?

You're probably right. The sad truth is that at the end of the day, we rely on Ford's proprietary designs in order to keep our vehicles on the road. Maybe the Purism folks will design a truck at some point :)
  20. Future Battery Upgrades?

I wouldn't count on this happening necessarily, but I can imagine (maybe 10 years from now) an independent company offering solid state battery swaps for the current gen Lightning. Between the Mach E and the Lightning, it's not crazy to imagine that there will be a million vehicles on the road...
