  1. My Goal: to never pay for charging (Solar) -- my automation process

Would be nice if we had our pick of electric companies but we don't. There is a plan here from our utility company (PG&E) to manage my Powerwalls also but I didn't buy them for that. I bought them for me and I will manage them. I like Tesla's Virtual Power Plant plan as you can opt in or out...
  2. My Goal: to never pay for charging (Solar) -- my automation process

Shane, your system (solar, batteries and EVSE) is similar to mine! I've had solar for 8 years this month and 6 years ago decided it was time to add storage and getting batteries was a game changer. 16.5Kw of solar, 4 Powerwall 2's and 2 Emporia EVSE's with Vue energy monitoring system. I...
  3. What is this connector for?

There are no wires going to it. It is an inline connector with no wire harness connected to either side. I didn't research what wire harness would be connected to it and what it would be for but I could if you really need to know.
  4. Smart Solar Charging

The Lightning and Mach-E haven't had any charging issues with the Emporia EV charger that I have seen. I've been using them for about 6 months now charging on excess solar only. Same as you once my Powerwalls are charged to 100%, the Emporia charger starts charging with excess solar. Just for...
  5. How to disassemble the Lightning dash cluster?

I made a PDF of the photos from the repair manual for removing the Instrument Panel Cluster. This is for the Lightning with the 12" display but It's probably similar to the models with other screen sizes. Didn't know what you had.
  6. How to disassemble the Lightning dash cluster?

Joe, from Ford's F-150 Lightning repair manual, it looks like there are clips under that trim and you use a trim removal tool to pull it forward. Thing is, the diagram does not look exactly like your trim. Yours almost looks like a two piece where as in the diagram it looks to be one piece...
  7. Shortcut on main screen for camera possible?

Hey Pete, Aaron, I made a physical button to activate the cameras on my Mach-E and I'm fairly sure you can do the same with your Lightning. While you can add your own momentary button to do this, I chose to use the Parking button since I would never self park the car. You are correct with your...
