As mags said, the Grizzl-e is a great outdoor EVSE. Get the dumb one, this is mine with wifi and I don't have that part working yet, I think distance from the wifi range extender. Absolutely no issues in 11 months.
I posted the pics of the displays during cold weather operation just so others could see the results. Living in rural America where a lot of people get there ev information from a certain "news" channel, they thought that my truck wouldn't even "start". You guys get in the weeds of the details...
This morning was about the same result except the overnight low. I have a Mesonet weather station close to my house and here is a pic of the temp at 2am. Kind of crazy to think that it's "warmed" up about 20 degrees and is still 20 below.
We're in the middle of a cold blast in central Montana so I ran to town yesterday morning and this morning to see what the Lightning and extreme cold would do. There is no reason to be out in this weather if you don't have to. I do, I spent the rest of yesterday in a 1 ton diesel with a...
My 311A XLT said it updated to 6.8.0 a couple days ago. It didn't have the numerical SOC yet. I went on my first multi DCFC trip that day and yesterday the numbers appeared after I was parked in a second floor underground parking garage at a medical clinic.:) Go figure. It was great to have as I...
I hardwired my Grizzle-e smart with some off the shelf lugs and a hydraulic crimper on 6 awg. It's and outdoor install and has had lots of rain and snow on it and has worked flawlessly since I installed it. Only thing I haven't got working is the smart part. I put in a wifi range extender but...
Oh, the ride is great after years of 3/4 and 1 ton Ram diesels. I had to get bulk diesel today, the tank is in the back of a 2500 Ram and that was the first thing I noticed was how stiff and ruff it was and it's the best riding of my Rams. I've noticed that you can really get rolling across the...
Bozeman is only a 100 miles away and several times I thought about giving it a try this summer but the Audi dealer was the only game in town, still is, since the new EA at Target is just sitting there looking pretty. I go to Missoula several times a year and EA shows a new site scheduled for...
I haven't had any problems yet with the air dam. As I waited to be able to order I noticed quite a few threads on the air dams so I assumed I would have problems too. I don't have to drive in a lot of traffic so I wonder if the lack of slush spray hitting the front will help. I was worried about...
We had quite a bit of snow a couple weeks ago and then it warmed up so it was that snow/slush thing. I noticed one day two large accumulations under the front of the truck, probably the inner suspension that it could cling to. I got busy and didn't check it again but it's something I'll look at...
I check Plugshare every few days thinking some magical new sites will appear. I'm looking forward to having SC access when it happens. The closest SC is only 44 miles away.
You are right, I carried the welder around this summer but never had to use it. I made an assumption that since it could start an RV a/c unit it could run a small mig. So today I tried it and sure enough I could only weld about an inch and the welder or inverter would stop and 3 to 4 seconds...
Yes, I have the precondition set for my departures and during the cold snap I plugged in any time I was home, so if it wasn't moving it was plugged in. Yes elevation is a big one. It's 14 miles between my 2 places and 400 feet difference in elevation. I get about 1.8 going up hill and 2.5 or...
Today I crossed the 10k mile mark in just over 5 months of ownership. So far it's been everything I was hoping it would be. The Lightning operates in almost the dead center of Montana, 100 to 130 miles from 4 of the major cities, Billings, Bozeman, Helena and Great Falls. I'm a rancher, a...
That's probably to set a gear pattern in the gear reduction units of the motors. I doubt that I generated much heat and pressure on that short a trip and lower speeds. 35 mph was about it.
This is my Lightning the 5th day I've had it. It's towing a 30ft Avion trailer that weighs about 6k, and it tows with ease. I've just covered about 20 miles of gravel road to an event for youth on range land plants and soils. Mud flaps are ordered and needed as you can see. The truck has a...
My salesman was very good, always checking in. Called me for first production date, then the delay, then the new production date, date built and the shipping. He pulled some of the info up on his computer while I was sitting there today. I'm guessing all dealers have the same info available...
