Got an update from the dealer on Saturday. They still do not have the replacement HV battery module and Ford has not given them a delivery date. It is not on backorder, but the system has also not given a date for delivery. Will update when I get the vehicle back.
I’d agree that this truck seems more prone to hydroplaning compared to my previous ICE F-150 at highway speeds. I've had similar experiences on a brand-new expressway equipped with modern surface water management, including concrete tining (grooves). It was raining heavily but not excessively...
Well, I think I finally figured out why I've been having random electrical issues with my truck. Last night, I got the dreaded Powertrain Malfunction Wrench of Death—reduced power mode kicked in, limiting me to about 57%. Fingers crossed I can limp it to the dealership. Literally just picked it...
Well, we found the reason for the rear glass shattering!
When the glass installer was removing what was left of my rear window, they discovered that the wiring connector for the rear defroster was completely MELTED! It wasn’t just damaged—it was a glob of melted plastic fused with glass shards...
I’m wondering if anyone else with an F-150 Lightning has experienced their rear window shattering for no reason? I’ve now had to replace my rear window twice, and neither time was it struck by anything. Once in late October and now again in early February (colder months).
The first time it...
I wanted to share my recent experience with my 2023 Lightning Lariat, as it seems very similar to what has been described in other posts.
On Friday, my truck unexpectedly "bricked." I drove for about 30 minutes without any issues and parked in a lot. When I came back out 15 minutes later, I...
Dearborn Fire Department Incident Report for Ford Lightning Fire on 2/4/23:
For those of you that are interested, attached is the Dearborn Fire Department incident report on the Lightning battery fire that occurred on 2/4/23. I highlighted a few interesting points in the attachment. (Sorry for...
A update in which Ford says they are monitoring the two battery issues. 1.) Modules on some owned vehicles and 2.) the battery fire. Article: https://www.cnbc.com/2023/02/17/ford-f-150-lightning-ev-issues-battery-fire.html
A defective battery causing a Ford F-150 Lightning to catch fire...
The fire has been confirmed by multiple independent sources. Seems like the fire was a pretty good indicator they had a problem during pre delivery inspection. ? Starting to have flashbacks to the Boeing Dreamliner battery issues!
Battery fire prompted stop production / stop shipment: https://www.detroitnews.com/story/business/autos/2023/02/15/ford-to-keep-f-150-lightning-plant-down-through-at-least-next-week/69907949007/
I can assure you the article is not BS. If anyone has dealt with Ford customer service throughout this process, you know they do not have any information at their disposal. Trucks are in a stop production / stop shipment.
