My first thought is a set of takeoffs from a regular F150 or Expedition that can be had for a fraction of the cost of new. But I’m the guy who doesn’t care much about appearance.
What’s the objective? Are you looking for different tire choices, appearance, or something else? There are 25mm...
I have the factory spray-in liner, and I drilled through the same front plugs that she used for the wiring. It’s a tight fit with a 1/2” hole, but I wanted to keep it as small as possible to make it easier to plug if I ever remove the cover. It takes a bit for the drill to punch through the...
Thanks, Nikki!
Kind of a funny coincidence that yours was posted the day after I installed the same cover on mine. I ran my wires to the battery, though. I’m having problems with a dashcam that’s wired using one of those fuse taps. I don’t think that’s the problem, but it’s pretty tough to...
That has nothing to do with navigation. Once you plug in, the truck aggressively tries to get the battery to the optimal temp for charging whether you navigate there or not.
He’s not the only one. I’ve tried in January and April and never noticed any kind of change. Zero action from the compressor or coolant heater as I approached numerous chargers, and the battery inlet temp did nothing.
I can’t say if my truck was capable of preconditioning before January...
I love reading through this thread.
My truck has been great, but I became disillusioned after losing a battery module in January. I’ve heard of enough repeat failures to be afraid of owning it after the 100K battery warranty. I drive 30-40K/year, so I’ll be at the OP’s point in two years or...
Someone suggested the Lightning is supposed to precondition, but it was broken with an update. I’m certain that mine won’t precondition as it sits, but I’ll try again if I get another update before hitting the road next month.
To check, I navigate to a DCFC and keep an eye on max charge...
I’ve thought about that, but I’m concerned about causing damage over the long-term. Our Lightnings are some of the heaviest light-duty vehicles on the road, so I try and stay off curbs and grass. That’s probably a better option than taking up two Supercharger spots at a busy site, though.
I’ve gotten into the habit of putting the nose to the right of the Supercharger unit so I can’t hit anything. Sometimes I have to touch the curb, but it all depends on layout.
And you’ve gotta get creative pulling a trailer.
I’m pretty sure we don’t have preconditioning of any kind. The article on the Ford EV site only refers to the MachE.
I monitor my temps with an OBD reader and have never seen any kind of cooling or heating as I route to a DC charger. I tried on a cold January in Minnesota and a hot day in...
I’m glad to hear you got it working! I quickly learned to check the lock position before plugging in, and the tight fit makes it easy to partially seat the Tesla connector into the A2Z adapter.
If you can’t see the entire OPEN label, it’s not far enough in to latch. Sometimes rubber...
Good call on that, I should have spelled it out.
Of course. I think the teams put together modules and software from the ICE platform and changed as little as possible. I’m really hopeful this can be fixed with an OTA.
Hi, everyone. Many of us have wondered why the truck has to be running to use the PPO system. It’s a silly requirement for a an EV, but a cooling requirement makes this more plausible.
I was pawing through the service manual and saw that both inverters under the bed are liquid cooled. They...
You won’t hurt it like that. I’ve done it.
Just like every owner’s manual cautions against lifting a solid axle vehicle from the differential, but shops do it every day. When’s the last time a shop bent someone’s axle?
I completely understand your frustration, but there’s nothing wrong here. I’d have them use some touchup paint to prevent corrosion, but there’s nothing to worry about. Your truck is fine and I hope the tech learned something in the process.
