Sorry about the cancelled tripâthatâs a tough call. Mineâs been holding so far, but itâs only been a few days and the appointment itself was quick. If they actually find the leak on yours, I imagine it could take longer depending on where it is and how accessible it is.
Definitely report...
This is fascinatingâand honestly not what I expected. Mine was completely empty and the cabin AC wasnât working at all, so I assumed it was just a straightforward AC issue. And the service managerâknowingly or notâtried to minimize the whole thing by saying itâs no different than ICE trucks he...
I was skeptical about the warranty, mostly because I was thinking, âwhat could go wrong?â And of course Murphyâs Law says the first thing that goes wrong in 40k miles, they donât cover⌠But, if they do eventually find a leak and have to drop the HV battery, I wonder what that would cost to fix...
This is really helpful.
Mine was completely empty, dealer couldnât find a leak after vacuum + sniffer, recharged it and sent me on my way.
Interesting that yours ended up being at the compressor seal and took a second pass to find. That lines up with what they told meâthat small/intermittent...
That was exactly my reaction.
Dealer confirmed the system had zero pressure (completely empty) and threw P0534. They did a vacuum test, sniffer, etc. and couldnât find a leak, then recharged it and everything works now.
Their explanation was basically:
âIf there is a leak, itâs too small or...
Believe me, I pushed back. He said because no parts were replaced, itâs not brokenâaccording to Ford Warrantyâtherefore Iâm on-the-hook. As if the gas is *not* a part?
Service manager said at 40,000 miles the dye doesnât show up. My guess is that in order to check the entire system, youâd need to remove the chassis, but Iâm unsure.
2023 Ford F-150 Lightning Lariat, ~40,000 miles.
I recently started getting repeated âPowertrain Malfunction / Reduced Powerâ warnings along with no AC cooling (fan worked, no cold air). Took it to the dealer.
They diagnosed:
Code P0534 (refrigerant loss of charge)
System had zero pressure...
27k miles. Only maintenance is tire rotations and recently, new tires. It was, by far, the most expensive vehicle i ever purchased. And itâs also the first brand-new vehicle I purchased in 40 years of driving. So buying the Lighting felt like a really big deal for me. And I donât regret it for a...
I changed my well-worn, stock Hankook âATâ tires at 26,000 miles. They had the same outside edge wear that everyone here complains about. I thought I could make it through the winter, but decided our lives were worth more than trying to extend the life out of an unsafe tire. As everyone here...
Sorry to hear about your experience. I hope your technical problems get resolved. I'm 11 months into ownership and am about to flip 20,000 miles with absolutely zero problems. I've rotated the tires. That's it. I've never had a vehicle as remotely trouble-free as my Lightning. I hope Ford is...
This update was different for me. I got a message on my screen about 24hrs in advance letting me know I was going to receive a software update at a scheduled time. In my case at 1am. I got the message every time I started her up. The software updated without a hitch. And from what I could tell...
Actually, no. I used to have a separate app on the center screen. I canât remember what it was called, but it specifically showed âwhere is my power going?â And it would show the driving, accessories, heating, cooling in a graph with their corresponding kw. It was pretty basic. Always wished it...
I got this update (6.4) while in the middle of my first road tripâactually while I was at a fast charger. Iâve never gotten an update while at home with fast internet. Only randomly while driving!
anyway, i only noticed that my auto fold mirrors stopped working and the app that lets you see...
Someone I know had 2 cars stolen from their fancy home in Ct. on the same night. The thieves were âjoyriders.â Teenagers. This is apparently what some kids do for fun these days. Both cars were eventually recovered. One of the 2 was torched. Neither of them were EVâs. I think everyone hears...
Why wait?
In the 3 months Iâve owned mine I havenât burned roughly 250 gallons of gas. The electricity I used (in New York State) was powered by about 50% natural gas, 25% nuclear, and 25% hydro/wind. Pumping gas is way less convenient than plugging in when you get home.
And itâs the most...
