Understand this, but I work in specifically PR and operate in automotive among other sectors like say, sportswear. All of this is highly choreographed. My observation over the past decade has been as we transition into the "YouTube era" it's become perfectly acceptable to "release" stuff without...
Yeah, when do OEMs start to get called out on this? It's getting fever pitch and impacting everything in cars. Everyone releases on time except no one does.
Ford got as much battery in as they could for two main goals.
Bring a BEV truck to market ASAP
Make it look exactly like the gas F150, even with a new frame underneath.
I think that approach is paying dividends and frankly I'm worried a redesigned F150 might not be as positively received as...
You're asking me to remember names from 24 years ago :D
That's definitely the place. I was in the "TSG" or "Technical Support Group" adjacent to the QA testers and my title was "Manager, Compatibility Testing" or something like that. He may remember me more than I remember him as I stood out a...
I mean, not sure what you're basing that on: https://www.cnn.com/2023/11/27/business/volkswagen-brand-no-longer-competitive/index.html
Big bets in the EV world can only be done so many times and eventually they need to be done right. Even sans climate change they're just clearly better machines...
It's hard to envision what this looks like. The new big three is Rivian, Tesla and Stellantis? Tesla buys either Ford or GM because they wasted their half-ton opportunity on the Cyber Truck? Does Apple buy Rivian?
For the first time, we have options. The reason why Bush and Obama bailed...
So the R1S is 100% overpriced for that role, but not at $550 /mo. lease. I guess that's what I'm getting at with specifically the Rivian. I almost wound up in an R1T because of those lease prices. I'm not sure I've ever heard of a 70% residual before. PS, not trying to convince you of anything...
Ford cheated. Not in ways that matter to us, but they cheated none the less. The way "this is supposed to be done" is by completely revamping your entire company to orient around two necessary and fundamental changes.
Software needs to be first
Electric power trains and how that differs from...
Hi, back when I was younger (man I'm only in my 40s but this was 20 years ago still, ugh, curse you time) I managed a quality assurance department at Acclaim Entertainment. Yeah, we ran into walls all day. I was a very specific kind of manager. I tracked compatibility over various PCs and...
Cheaper is cheaper. I can't tell you how the trade works against the Rivian.
I have limited time in the EV9, I own an Ioniq 5 (same platform as EV9) and I've owned an R1S.
I would implore you to see both in person and not listen to YouTubers. The bottom line on the R1S rear row is I don't even...
The problem is the price. It winds up costing about the same as an R1S. I own an EGMP car so I know it well. I would not want a Tahoe-sized thing with this power train. Is it competent? Sure, fine. Is it anywhere close to the same league as even the dual motor R1S? No.
You do get an "OEM feel"...
Any perception on this thread of Rivian being something other than awesome is completely misguided. I had an R1S for the past year and it's an amazing machine.
To clear up any confusion, the important things to hit and it looks like Rivian will exceed, is "better than the Model Y at everything...
In the Rivian? I was doing it to super cars. People can gush about the Raptor's 0-60 in 3.6 seconds but I was almost a full second faster and much heavier. Trucks didn't make it on my radar.
Honestly my truck feels slow now coming out of that thing. I'm not joking. It happened first with the...
I disagree with this opinion. If you're starting at home with a full charge and add in a daily fast charge to get you an extra 50 miles back home you've stopped for as long as you'd stop for gas and pay about 1/4 in fuel. If there's a reliable charger on the routes, I wouldn't even think twice...
