Mostly, I would mirror what others have said about working with your electrician. I will note that a recent update of the National Electric Code now requires a licensed electrician to do installations for EVSE. Even if it is just a NEMA14-50 receptacle. Problems that have brought this on include...
Yes, it is Uptown Ford. I was nervous, but they took good care of us, were friendly and beet their time estimate both times. (One - scheduled service, the second was a recall for the front parking sensor where they needed a part.)
The differences between regions and dealers amazes me. I am from California or Washington, depending on the time of the month. So when I went looking I started by talking to local dealers. They were happy to sell me a Lightning, but none of the sales staff knew anything about the EVs, other than...
29 States and DC require front plates. Part of me resists this, but part of me (That part that deals in a variety of flaw enforcement issues) thinks they should be required on all cars in the US.
With that said, the plate holder that Ford provided requires drilling holes in my brand new front...
If you have an electrician already coming to the property, look at having a NEMA 14-50 receptacle attached to a 50A breaker. You are supposed to keep constant current below 80% of the breaker capacity, so that would allow a 40A charge. Most EVSE units rated at 40A or below can be purchased with...
We have been using the one from Amazon for 6 months. No drilling, easy install and no problems with cooling. If I have to have a front plate (required in the 3 states I drive in) this is a good choice.
Great map! Thanks,
This would have saved me some research when we bought our Lightning. We bought in Idaho, got better service, more discounts and better configuration than we could find in CA, OR, WA or NV.
I am trying to look at this logically. :
What is the difference between pulling the F-150 and having the F-150 (or any electric car) on a downhill grade with a greater grade than rolling friction?
Forgetting the inherent inefficiency, the question here is if it would work. Will it?
Yes, someone...
I actually wish the Lightning did this. I love the Adaptive speed control, but when you are pushing 70 in a 65 zone and you approach a turn rated at 45, disengaging the speed control is a bit abrupt. Having BlueCruise do it for you would be nice, and more comfortable for the passenger.
We looked at the Ford site earlier this year, then did some shopping. Looking in California, Oregon and Washington, all of the dealers were charging full MSRP plus add-ons. Also, most of teh dealers seemed to think that they were doing us a favor talking to them. To put a twist on things, I...
