Truck charged just fine over level 2 last night. I have yet to charge level 3 yet. I’ve driven over 200 mile with no problems.
I did see the Tesla charger where this mess started is now out of order.
I picked up the truck and it is acting normal. I haven’t charged yet but the service notes indicate they couldn’t replicate the problem. They performed all updates that were available to my truck. I hope it was just a strange gremlin.
I’ll find out tomorrow when I pick up the truck. I did see they were performing a Secondary Onboard Diagnostic Module B update when I was getting some things out of my truck this morning.
The power was reduced but it was below 40 degrees outside and I was below 25 percent charge. This truck normally starts to reduce power at 40 percent charge during similar weather conditions.
No problem shifting though.
Looking through Ford Pass, they finished the update, which deleted my...
Update: over 104,000 miles today and could not get the truck to charge on Level 2 or 3. I got the red ring of death but no codes on the truck.
I took it to my dealer and they were able to charge it on their level 2 and are now running some major software updates to see if that clears the problem.
I also got the 3 free years plus an additional year which means I’m covered through October of this year.
My truck is still running B.C. 1.0. If I don’t get the 1.4 update then I won’t be paying for it come November.
@CD4TNF I wonder if I was one of them you saw? I’m on the 99 anywhere from Merced to Bakersfield frequently.
@Vulnox thanks for the offer. I might take you up on it when I hit 200k. :)
Yep, same ride as the day I got it. No leaking or weird tire wear.
I’ve put over 300k miles a piece on two other F-150s without touching the suspension.
@TwentyTwentyThree I’ve also experienced starting the truck and having no power to the front motor but shutting it off for a few minutes makes that disappear. It hasn’t happened in at least 40k miles.

@Joe Dablock All of the chimes will change to a distorted pitch and the screen would say...
My Lightning just turned over 100,000 miles yesterday.
I’m the second owner of this truck(Apr. 2024 purchase) but over 94k miles are mine.
The original Grabber tires almost made it to 57k. I replaced them with Michelin Defenders and have at least 30k more miles of tread on these tires.
I...
I’m very much a pro-sliding cover guy. I like them for the added security as I travel with some valuable equipment in my bed at times. I’ve got a Truck Covers USA sliding cover on my ICE F-150 and just ordered an Embark by Real Truck advantage through Ford for my Lightning. I got almost $500 off...
This is my first EV. I knew I wanted a Lightning as soon as it was announced. I bought it as a buffer for the rapid swings in fuel prices that we see here in California.
I have no regrets and the only way I see myself going back to an ICE F-150 is if this truck is discontinued.
I’m Team Ford especially when it comes to trucks.
I had a 2011 F-150 with the first generation Ecoboost that was totaled in an accident at 309k miles. The only thing I replaced were water pump and radiator at about 220k miles.
I still own a 2013 F-150 with the 3.5 ecoboost and it has 365k miles...
I bought a jug yesterday from my closest dealer but it was undiluted. Parts department said it would be fine since I’m just topping off the reservoir… not sure if I will use it or not.
You’re who I pay attention to as far as updates. My truck seems to be within a few days of getting the update after yours. This update installs tonight on mine. :)
I received the walk away door lock update but it doesn’t work because of the BCM or whatever. I don’t really care about that one.
At this point I would be grateful if I could at least get BC 1.2.
I can only speak of my personal experience: I’ve seen the power available to the motors start dropping at 45% charge in about 45F degree weather. It hasn’t governed how fast I can go just the power available to the motors.
