So I guess the PTC is also the means in which the battery is heated? I would think that if it's sole purpose is for cabin heating it would be more efficient to heat the air directly.
I don't think the truck has a heater core. The coolant loop goes through the battery and motors to a chiller to exchange heat with refrigerant. I could be wrong but I don't think there's another heat exchanger in the cabin air flow path. Cabin heating in 22-23s is electric resistive.
I have the Battery Tender full-size charger. It will do high-amp charging down to trickle charging (can be set to auto or manual amp selection). I like that it will quickly top off the battery and then automatically "trickle" charge as necessary.
I think the article was fair. The point they were making was that the EPA estimate in big numbers on the window sticker can be very inaccurate for highway driving in either direction due to outdated testing methodology and the way it's presented as one combined number. I read the article as...
Ford says charge to 90% for regular use but you can charge to 100% if you need to. Don't overthink it.
People who have posted real-world battery degradation have shown that is it negligible, even at higher mileage. I don't think the way you charge, no matter how "bad" it is for the battery...
Just in case someone hasn't played around to figure out exactly what this change does... When you click Find Chargers it opens the navigation app and goes straight to Where To - Chargers. Essentially the Public Charging app no longer has any purpose, and I suspect Ford kept it with the current...
I believe the front panel with the fake charge port has been discontinued, so if you get a new OEM part it will likely be the 24+ one without the fake port.
It's a known issue for the grill paint on Platinums to flake off. There are several forum posts about it. The dealer should replace it under warranty but they may first try to blame it on road debris chipping it and starting the flaking.
I just checked mine and it hasn't changed yet. Based on those pics it looks like you can still search for chargers like before (and hopefully see live status)? Is the only change removing the capability to activate a charge on the screen?
Tennessee relied on an independent study to determine the average amount an average ICE driver pays in state and federal gas taxes and that's how they set the EV fee. Their justification for collecting for fed taxes is that the money would be flowing back to the state.
We don't have vehicle...
As mentioned above you can still take the interest deduction if you also take the standard deduction.
The $250 isn't too bad as long as you state doesn't also add a surcharge (see below).
The problem with the $250 is that it is FAR more than the average driver pays in federal gas tax. It's...
Countless threads on this topic. But the basics are:
The range estimate is a rough guess based on recent driving behavior.
Driving habits and conditions make a huge difference in range. Cold weather and fast highway driving drops range significantly.
You can get the estimated 300+ mile...
I'd try Forscan if I had a PC. I have a Mac and it's just not worth the effort/cost to get Windows loaded on it to run Forscan.
This is why I've been adamant here that I do not want WAL without toggles. I'm probably in the minority who doesn't want WAL (I don't want it to lock in my garage)...
If it's caused by debris at all they likely won't cover it. But you won't really know until the door is opened up. Scratching the glass itself is very odd. Something very hard would have to get past the external wiper and get lodged inside the mechanism. You may make an argument that the...
Not servicing a truck because you didn't buy it there is likely a violation of their franchise agreement with Ford. Especially for warranty repairs. Ford corporate would be very interested to hear about it.
Some dealers will go the "extra mile" for customers who bought there. But they can't...
It's more like saying a Chevy V8 tested in a lab, or used in an airplane, suddenly has unknown reliability because it's now in a truck. You have some good guesses, but won't really know until you get real-world data. It's not uncommon for unforeseen problems to crop up.
There are indeed...
I did my best to interpret that data with the information given, and it's really difficult to make any conclusion other than high temp and high delta SOC cycling degrades battery cells the most. There wasn't enough information to really know how bad the degradation really is, and certainly it's...
Ford says to charge to 90% for regular use, but you can go to 100% if you need the extra range.
That's it. Don't overthink it.
Charging frequency, stopping below 90%, keeping charge within a certain band, etc. has a miniscule affect on battery life and health, if any at all. The evidence...
What I find most annoying is that they need separate buttons for seat heating and cooling. You tap the single button and it turns on heat no matter if it's 100 degrees outside. Turning the knob to adjust the seat temp is useless, they shouldn't have even bothered. There's plenty of room to...
